Jai C Oak Park , IL June 25, 2019 Lint filter catching on clothes and ruining them. The original issue with the dryer is that a corner of the lint screen was sticking out of the lint screen guide, and it would not stay flush with the guide. As a result, many tank top straps, waistband strings, and blankets would get caught on this corner and twist, tear, or warp my clothes. When I did my research on the issue, I kept reading that it was an issue with the lint screen that came with the dryer. So I ordered the lint screen, guide, and cover that appliance part pros recommends to fix this issue. However, when I took the existing lint screen and lint screen guide out of the dryer, I noticed a good 2 softball sized amount of lint buildup at the bottom of the screen. I cleaned the old guide out, and I cleaned out the pit that the guide sat in. After that, I installed the new guide and lint screen in, and it works like a charm. The only thing that I didn't consider until after the installation of the new screen and guide is that if the lint at the bottom of the old guide was lifting it out of place, and that is why the old lint screen was catching on clothes. If you are having issues with the lint screen catching on corners of your clothes, I would recommend taking the old lint screen and guide out and cleaning any lint build up out. Reinstall the old lint screen and guide and see if the corner of the screen is still catching on things. Removal and installation is easy. Just make sure you pay attention to how the old guide is put together, so you have a template to help you put together the new one, if you chose to order it. Arthur K Bradenton , FL June 06, 2018 Clothes catching on protruding edge of filter. They were twisted and sometimes ruined. The filter is a poor fit in slot. Allows excess lint to accumulate around and below filter Parts came with no instructions. Removed 4 screws to free parts assembly. Saved felt strip on back of filter guide and spring on filter cover. Assembled parts, after fooling around with spring to get it working properly, and reinserted into dryer. Note: better observation when disassembling parts initially would have saved a little time. Aligning assembly and getting screws back in also took a bit of effort and required getting head and shoulders into dryer opening to see fit. This was a little awkward, particularly with placement of flashlight. Once done, the new parts fit like a charm. Douglas M Walnut Creek , CA March 30, 2020 Appliance: Kenmore Dryer 79691182310 Dryer screen was twisting clothes to death, new waredrobe here I come Then the wife made me fix it. So I ordered three parts, Filter Screen, Guide and Cover. There are four screws inside the drum/tumbler that hold the guide and cover in place. Remove screws, push down on the dampness sensor if you have one. Once you have the guide out of the dryer, note the little spring on the cover, how it works. Your new cover will need the spring! Also note I reused the weather stripping from the old guide. Just brush off the dust first. Pay attention to disassembly so realignment of parts is easy. Took about 20 minutes. Used a Vacuum for the dust. Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers

John G Washington , DC October 09, 2024 Appliance: Kenmore Dryer 79681383410 Kenmore dryer vent housing damaged tearing clothes getting hooked on the lint filter I purchased all of the vent parts; Lint Filter, Lint Screen Housing, Lint Filter Guide, and Lint Filter Dust Cover. It was easy to remove the existing parts, and the most difficult part of installing the new parts was getting the screws to line-up through the Lint Screen Housing and into the metal frame of the dryer. I only needed a phillips head screwdriver and was done in less than 15 minutes. I did run into some disappointment. Other people mentioned that the new Lint Screen Housing wasn't 100% compatible with the original Lint Filter. The new Lint Screen Housing does not have space for the side tabs on the Lint Filter to seat down within the Lint Screen Housing. Noting this, I added the Lint Filter to my order hoping to avoid cutting off the side tabs of the Lint Filter. Unfortunately, the new Lint Screen Housing and the new Lint Filter are not exact matches and the side tabs on the Lint Filter have nowhere to go. I cut the tabs off my my origninal Lint Filter, and now hope to return the new Lint Filter I purchased to complete this repair. Read More...
