Raymond L Bastrop , TX February 12, 2015 Appliance: Kenmore Refrigerator 79572053110 Ice door flap will not open to dispense ice no sound from door flapper actuator Unplug refrigerator. Use non marring (plastic trim stick) tool to gently pry loose the plastic assembly containing the PCB display beginning at the lower edge and proceeding around the outer edge. Disconnect all connectors and note the routing of each wire harness and connector (take pictures on cellphone as necessary). Remove two screws holding inner PCB mount bracket in place to expose actuator, flapper door and linkage. Replace actuator (three mounting screws) and ensure that actuator "operating arm" properly engages the intermediate linkage and flapper door linkage. The actuator arm on the actuator I received was in the "flapper door OPEN" position. --- I do not recommend test operating the actuator until properly mounted----- Replace PCB mount bracket and PCB display. I test operated the actuator at this point to verify proper operation. Snap PCB display into mount bracket. Brad A Poway , CA January 13, 2017 Ice door would no longer open when ice switch was depressed I first verified that the ice door actuating solenoid was the issue by removing the ice/water dispenser bezel/trim (the part outside the door where the ice and water is dispensed) with a plastic trim removal tool. The tool is just a thin plastic pry bar but I imagine you could successfully use some other type of thin tool being careful not to scratch the finish of your refrigerator. After I removed the trim, I ensured that the ice door and linkage was intact and functioning correctly, then disconnected the electrical connector from the ice door actuator in the upper left corner. I then connected a multimeter to the two pins on the connector (use the DC setting as the actuator is supplied with DC current) and checked for power. Since I was receiving power at the connector, I was able to confirm that the actuator was not functioning correctly. Changing it is extremely easy as there are only three Phillips screws holding it in place. Installation procedure is the reverse of removal. I would note that when I received my new actuator, the actuating arm was in the extended position and can be easily retracted by hooking up the electrical connector before installing the actuator and depressing the ice switch. Wait approximately 5 seconds for it to cycle closed and you can then install the actuator. Jason R Roseville , MN March 18, 2023 Appliance: Model LFX21976ST-05 Ice maker chute closed early causing ice to build up and freezer into huge chuck blocking the chute Replaced Dispenser Switch and the Ice Dispenser Door Motor. It seemed from Youtube videos that it was the Dispenser Switch but just decided to change them both out. I only did two tests after swapping the Dispenser switch (one screw and the wire connector thing is all that holds it in) and the ice dispenser kept the chute open as long as I held it. Still swapped the motor out. I wanted to swap out the Ice Bucket Assembly as it cracked on the bottom when trying to clear out one of the "ice damns" previously before I figured out what was really happening. This video was the only one I found that was directly the problem I was experiencing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc9aUfHUgSw Got ice door front panel off using putty knife (seen in a lot of videos) and this one which didn't work until I loosed a few of the top and top sides first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V37EHMJjZQ Lock the fridge water and ice dispenser in case you press the buttons as you'll get water and ice on the floor.
