First, DO NOT call Sears for parts, their call center knows nothing about the product. App-Pros are the best for help and the right parts. I figured to repair, replace all seals and any item that shows need to and all items that have to do with the spin that may be bad. Repair videos great help. The parts I purchased from Appliance Parts Pro fit perfectly and were reasonably priced. I received them the next day, which made the Wife (and me) very happy. Although Appliance Parts Pro did not have a repair video for this, I was able to find one online and the machine is washing like new again. • Burning smell
• Will not drain
• Pumps but will not spin

Very difficult fix even though I had done it once before about 15 years ago. Problem for me was getting the transmission down far enough to get clearance to install the belt. Model LA780P from the mid 80s. It started leaking transmission fluid and that worried and hurried me. I bought a newer washer but went back to this older style because they are repairable. Replaced it: Loosened and lifted the wig wag solenoid used a drill with grindstone and ground off the rivet head, swapped the new part in... BUT... the kit didnt contain the rivet clip so I had to hit the hardware store for a pushnut that fit, hopefully it will stay on. Read more

Our Kenmore Series 70 washer no longer spun during the rinse and spin cycle. After scouring the resource on the internet, the lid switch checked out OK, so it boiled down to the wig wag solenoid unit that engages the transmission. The back panel was opened and a check with a multimeter showed one of the solenoids was an open circuit and provided no resistance reading.
