Compactor carriage traveled to bottom but would not return to top although motor would run James L. • Hubert , NC • January 11, 2015
I removed the bottom access plate to look at the drive mechanism and check the chain and gears. I confirmed the bigger drive gear was broken in three pieces. Once I replaced the gear and adjusted the distance between the two gears (which is really close to prevent the gears from losing contact and stripping them) it works great.

Broken handle foot pedal and missing parts Donald M. • Lake Arrowhead , CA • April 05, 2015
This trash compactor is in our vacation home. We never use it and now we are selling the house. When I looked to replace it I was amazed at how expensive a new compactor would cost. I found the serial number on the current compact entered it and your web site came up. Your schematics were excellent and made the repair very easy!

My 30 year old whirlpool trash compactor roller bearings are "worn out"! L H. • Villa Grande , CA • January 17, 2015
Bot both sets of roller bearings, lower ones on the appliance and the set on the trash can that rolls out. I just followed the instructions that were in the roller bearing package and only needed the tools that are recommended. Was a little tricky with the nuts, really need a person with "small" fingers to reassemble the nuts back on the lower set of bearing that are on the appliance. All in All, went well and works. Found that the new bearings are v. tight on the machine, being new, so, use...
