Alumilastic Cement
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP4317852

The Alumilastic Cement is an OEM part for Whirlpool appliances, typically used in refrigerators and freezers. It serves as a thermal mastic compound, designed to provide a secure and heat-conductive bond between various components, such as evaporator coils and the interior walls of the appliance.

Causes of a bad alumilastic cement can include drying out, cracking, or losing its adhesive properties over time. This can occur due to age, exposure to temperature fluctuations, or improper application. When the cement fails, it can lead to poor thermal conductivity and decreased cooling efficiency.

Symptoms of a bad alumilastic cement include:

  • Reduced cooling performance
  • Unusual noises from the cooling system
  • Components becoming loose or detaching
  • Increased energy consumption

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Replaced defective freezer fan. It was a very easy job & it now works great. Shut power & carefully defrosted all ice build up behind freezer wall on metal fins with hair dryer & towels & cleared all ice from vents to refrigerator. Nicely dried & cleaned everything. Tested freezer drain hole with very hot water to maker sure it was not clogged & backing up. Installed new fan with the original plastic blade, rubber backing & also replaced the broken air vents. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Freezer was icing over blocking port holes to the fridge section   Samuel K. • Summit Point , WV • April 06, 2016

I defrosted the freezer and replaced the defrost temperature switch on the cooling coils. I cut the wires and used two small wire nuts to complete the splices. I defrosted the freezer with a hair dryer, but you have to careful not to melt the thin plastic walls and bottom of the freezer. You only need a nut driver, wire cutter, and wire stripper and two small wire nuts, (not supplied with part). Read more
