I unplugged the unit, removed the back cardboard panel and replaced the compressor starting device, and also the capacitor. Plugged the unit back in and the compressor came on and immediately began cooling. I was so happy (proud of myself) for diagnosing the problem and fixing the unit. Removed old handles by sliding the top and bottom trim covers up and down respectively which reveals the handle screws, unscrewing the old handles ( 4 screws each) screwing in the the new handles and sliding the covers back in place. Probably took 5 minutes. Excellent!
