A broken lid switch on my whirlpool stackable twin washer Joseph P. • Indialantic , FL • October 25, 2016
Fixing the problem was quite simple. First, I removed the lid assembly (thanks to the diagrams supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com!). Getting the back two screws out was very difficult because I couldn't see them from the front and I could not move the unit out of the enclosed space. After some trial and error, I located the screws which were 5/16 hex head screws and removed them with a MAGNETIC nut driver. (The magnet assures that the screw will not drop down into the mechanism). Second, I...

- Ideal replacement when original hardware is missing or threads are damaged
What's included: One screw Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing; shut off gas if applicable
- Access the control console and support the timer while removing/reinstalling hardware
- Start threads by hand to avoid cross-threading; tighten snugly without overtightening into plastic or thin metal
- Replace screws one at a time to keep the timer aligned
Tip: Some models use multiple of this screw—check your parts diagram to confirm quantity and locations.

Straight knurled pin that secures knobs or small components to a shaft for a tight, slip-resistant fit. Replaces a worn or missing pin to stop loose, wobbly, or spinning knobs and restore reliable engagement. What it does:
- Secures knobs, dials or small parts to control shafts by providing a press-fit, knurled surface.
- Prevents wobble, slipping, or spinning of control knobs that won't turn with the shaft.
- Common service symptom: knob spins freely or fails to engage controls.
- Used where a small metal pin is required to lock a component onto a splined or smooth shaft.
What's included: One straight knurled pin. Install notes:
- Disconnect power and unplug the appliance before servicing.
- Remove the knob or access panel to reach the shaft; pin is typically press-fit.
- Removal/installation may require needle-nose pliers, a small punch, or a bench press; protect surrounding parts from damage.
- Keep small parts away from children and follow appliance safety guidelines; replace mating hardware if the shaft or hole is damaged.

Whirlpool shaking Willy P. • Victorville , CA • May 19, 2019
Weekend laundry became very noisy, our 1987 Whirlpool washer began doing a dance across the floor and the drum was banging into the inner cabinet. After doing some research and watching a few videos on Appliance parts pros website. I inspected the washer and noticed one leg the rubber coating disintegrated, decided to change all four legs, springs and lid switch. Hardest part of the job is getting the cabinet together. Ops check good.

- Can help reduce clutch slip that appears as weak/no spin, slow spin ramp-up, or intermittent spinning
- Common signs of trouble: rattling or scraping near the drive, burning smell, or a visibly damaged/missing cap
What's included: 1 clutch spring cap Install notes:
- Unplug the appliance and shut off water before servicing
- Access the clutch per your model's service procedure; removing the gearcase/transmission and clutch may be required

This drain hose clamp secures the hose connection to keep water where it belongs during the drain cycle. A tight, reliable clamp helps prevent leaks and hose pull-off from vibration or pressure changes. What it does:
- Secures the drain hose to a pump outlet or drain port to maintain a watertight seal
- Helps prevent the hose from slipping off during operation
- Reduces leaks at the hose connection point
- Common symptoms of a bad clamp: water leaking at the drain hose joint, a loose/detached hose, or a visibly rusted/broken clamp
What's included:
Install notes:
- Disconnect power and turn off the water supply; place a towel to catch residual water
- Access the hose connection, remove the old clamp, and inspect the hose end and fitting; replace the hose if cracked or swollen
- Position the new clamp correctly over the hose and behind the fitting bead; tighten/seat evenly without overtightening
- Reassemble and run a brief drain test to check for leaks

- Can reduce noise and vibration caused by misalignment
- Commonly replaced when wear or damage causes rubbing, grinding, or poor spinning performance
What's included:
Install notes:
- Designed for use with compatible washer assemblies; follow your model's service manual for fitment and orientation
- Disconnect power and water supply before servicing the washer
- Inspect adjacent seals, bearings, and shaft components while replacing the spacer; replace any worn parts
