Weekend laundry became very noisy, our 1987 Whirlpool washer began doing a dance across the floor and the drum was banging into the inner cabinet. After doing some research and watching a few videos on Appliance parts pros website. I inspected the washer and noticed one leg the rubber coating disintegrated, decided to change all four legs, springs and lid switch. Hardest part of the job is getting the cabinet together. Ops check good.

The balance ring clip fell between the drum and the plastic tub. I watched the step by step video, went out and bought a tub ring tool to remove the tub ring nut and did not find the clip. I disassembled the machine further reviewing the video again. In the end the machine must have been apart before and there were 3 clips missing total. I ordered 8 new clips and replaced them and reversed the procedure to reassemble the machine once again watching the video putting the machine back to better...

Performed a partial rebuild of all expendables..clutch/brake/ seals/agitator cogs/suspension springs..chose to replace the basket drive rather than rebuild...cost diff was minimal.did rebuild the drive tube..seals/bearings..have spare control card..so exposure is to motor or gearbox failure..both of which are easy pulls..Whether we would rebuild or replace gearbox upon some future failure is undecided. Note the videos offered by APP are quite good but there are sometimes minor gaps in the tear...
