I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. I first changed the coupling on the motor but that wasn't bad. in...

This kit includes the clutch band and lining material used in the washer's transmission clutch assembly. The clutch band wraps around the clutch housing to engage the spin cycle, allowing the basket to gradually ramp up to full speed. Replace this kit if the washer fails to spin, spins slowly, or you hear grinding or scraping noises during the spin cycle.

- Common signs of trouble: rattling or scraping near the drive, burning smell, or a visibly damaged/missing cap
What's included: 1 clutch spring cap Install notes:
- Unplug the appliance and shut off water before servicing
- Access the clutch per your model's service procedure; removing the gearcase/transmission and clutch may be required

Whirlpool shaking Willy P. • Victorville , CA • May 19, 2019
Weekend laundry became very noisy, our 1987 Whirlpool washer began doing a dance across the floor and the drum was banging into the inner cabinet. After doing some research and watching a few videos on Appliance parts pros website. I inspected the washer and noticed one leg the rubber coating disintegrated, decided to change all four legs, springs and lid switch. Hardest part of the job is getting the cabinet together. Ops check good.

This is a small plastic cam located inside the agitator assembly of a top-load washing machine. It works with the agitator dogs to allow the upper portion of the agitator to ratchet in one direction during the wash cycle, providing the back-and-forth motion that cleans clothes. Replace this part if the agitator spins freely in both directions, makes clicking noises without engaging, or fails to agitate clothes properly.
