The Door Strike is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dryers. This component ensures the dryer door securely latches, enabling the appliance to operate and preventing it from running with the door ajar. It works in conjunction with the door catch to maintain a proper seal during drying cycles.
Symptoms of a bad Door Strike include:
- The dryer door not latching or staying closed
- The dryer not starting due to the door remaining open
- The door popping open during operation
- Visible wear, bending, or damage to the strike
Causes of a failing Door Strike can include regular wear and tear, misalignment from improper use, or damage from slamming the door. Replacing a faulty strike ensures the dryer operates safely and efficiently.
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

The vent on the air duct assembly had become rusted Christy R. • Arlington , TX • August 04, 2015
My son and I took the back panel off the dryer and found that the dryer was full of lint. It was very dirty and probably explains why the dryer had no been working as well. We cleaned the dryer out, took off the old air duct assembly and replaced it with the new one. We also replaced the old dryer hose while we had it pulled out. The repair was very easy, simply a matter of unscrewing screws and then reattaching them. Based on how dirty the dryer was it is probably a good idea to check the...

Lint filter stuck. Neal D. • Hixson , TN • July 31, 2019
There's a metal piece that the lint filter pushes down into that got bent a bit I guess and ended up skewering the lint filter. I got it loose but couldn't get the metal piece to stay where it was supposed to be to operate without catching the lint filter. I think it's there to prevent things like socks from hitting the blower wheel. When the new part came in I had to take the front cover off the blower wheel. It was easier than I thought, just three bolts/screws. Don't bother taking off...
