I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. Ordered a replacement valve and installed it. The part from AppliancePartsPro was an exact replacement for the original part. Replaced the hot and cold hoses at the same time to insure no leaks. Cold water settings now work properly again. Read more

Replaced clutch assembly which was a little tricky, but very doable. Just make sure to take your time. Replaced direct drive washer pump, the wash tub gasket and the fill hose. I also replaced the direct drive motor coupling since the rubber was deteriorated. Removing the inner wash tub for the gasket change is challenging, especially in older machines. 24 hours before starting the removal, spray penetrating oil around the lip of the washer drive block. I have a 25 year old Kenmore washer that works well and didn't want to get a new washer as they don't make them like they used to.
