First replaced defrost timer which tested OK - but reasonable price and easy to replace. When that did not fix the problem replaced the defrost thermostat and defrost heater. That fixed the problem. However all three parts tested OK ?? May have been a loose connection or intermittent problem with one of the parts. Final cost for all three parts was much cheaper than a service call!! Read more

Removed the lower hinge and repaired it, It was bent, allowing the bottom of door to rub on the inside of refrigerator. With the parts purchased along with the repair made to the hinge. The door now works as it should. Read more

I replaced the defrost timer, which took about 10 minutes. After replacing the timer, I cleared out some ice that filled up the air passage from the freezer to the fridge (which allows the cold air to pass through from the freezer to the fridge). I went to sleep and the next morning the fridge was ice cold!!! Such a relief that I was able to spend a few bucks instead of hundreds for a new fridge. My 10 year old frig door was hanging down to the point it wasnt fully closing and sealing unless you picked up on it. I ordered a lower hinge bracket, upper and lower bearing, and spacer. My bracket was bent down a little due to my kids hanging on the door when looking at the bottom shelf and i discovered my bracket was held on by only two bolts when there was supposed to be three. Removed the freezer shelves and back panel, evaporator coils were frozen with ice. Defrosted coil and removed defrost heater connectors, measured no continuity in the heater and ordered a replacement. Also discovered the aluminum retention strap was broken and the heater had slipped down in it's position, ordered and replacement strap. My only problem was I didn't have the part in stock. I do maintenance at a 150 unit Apt. complex. The fridgidare model we have all 3 shelves are different.
