GE no longer makes the shelf support available but Appliancepartspros had somewhat similar part for icemaker bucket that I could adapt. Saved the frig! Customer support was great, friendly, knowledgeable, patient, providing information about the part I needed (no longer available) and the intended use of the part I purchased. Am satisfied with the outcome but 5 stars would have been if GE still provided the missing part to suppliers (they probably didn't expect their frig to last so long!!). Read more

The ice dispenser door was not closing tightly. As a result, there was frost build up in the ice chute, which also was allowing ambient air and temperature into the freezer compartment. Upon further inspection, there was black “schmutz” on the ice door, and the rubber ice funnel and deflector parts were deteriorating. This recess heater was a last resort 'nuclear' option that I never employed. First repair was to replace the solenoid that keeps the little door from staying open and letting room air back up it. Also replaced the gaskets around both doors which allowed the freezer and fridge sides to stay at the right temp. That seems to have done the trick. Drilled out the rivets on the rear of the bucket shelf on each side (needed an angle drive drill for the left side) and removed the front screws. Installed the new shelf both sides with original screws in the front and 8-32 bolts and nuts in the rear. 3 screws to install the bucket to the auger assembly. Read more
