Kenmore Refrigerator 401.41009110 (40141009110, 401 41009110) Parts

Ordered the pieces from here. Downloaded the user manual. I never work on appliances but I couldn't justify the $200 a service tech would have charged to fix a $35 part. Followed the manual and removed the door. Replaced the broken plastic pieces. BE VERY CAREFUL not to strip the screws. I did and that's another story. Very easy to fix. You will need a second person to help guide the door back onto the frame. Read more

Replaced the motor in the Fridge panel Part # AP4136543 (DA31-00020E) and temperature sensor Part # AP4136842 (DA32-00006W). I made two orders, these are the correct parts. First sensory I ordered was the correct one actually. Note to whoever, the motor is the same for the freezer or fridge..it says #7 with black marker on all of the motors. I ordered a new defrost sensor and defrost fuse. I am a widow and had no clue how to fix a refrigerator but with your how to video's and research I was able to do it myself. One bit of advice the frost will adhere to the plastic panel so you must let it defrost itself before trying to remove that panel. If not panel will not come off. Read more

Disassembly is a little tricky. First, with a #2 phillips screwdriver, remove the single screw to the left of the ice chute/water dispenser. You'll have to get down low and look up from underneath. Next, underneath on either side, there are little slots with arrows pointing to them. Take a small straight slot screw driver and insert in each slot while gently pulling on the clear ice chute. I thought that I needed to repair the water supply. But it all looked OK. I had turned the power off for a few minutes hoping to clear any false info from the numerous power outages. And with hours of research, I found some info about the door switch on top of the freezer. It suggested placing a magnet above the switch to silence the noise. This did the trick. I was buying a part for my other refrigerator and decided to replace the ice tray on my LG, as it was not emptying properly. When I found the part, I also saw a video attached to the ice dispenser parts. I had taped over the ice dispenser years ago and would just open the freezer for ice. Watched the video and they sure made it look easy to replace that flap, so I decided to give it a shot. Called for repair and a tech told me the compressor was bad by simply touching the coils. A new one would be $1200. I did some research online, then pulled out my multimeter and found the compressor was good but the overload protector was bad. Replaced it inside an hour for about $25. Read more

• Ice maker won't dispense ice

Initially called repair man and he checked it out , took about half of the freezer insides out to decide the fan was bad. Then he informed me that he did not have part and was going to be on vacation for a week. So I finished tearing apart the freezer to get to part removing the ice maker and rear panel, removed fan and ordered new parts, parts arrived as said and I put back together. After receiving the part, I found I had to dismantle the left side of the handle in order to fix the right side that was broken. When I took the left side of the handle off I found the plastic piece that broke on the right side was about to break on the left side also. Having all the details and in advance of another broken handle, I ordered the part, just to have when it breaks. Read more
