Intermittent full opening of ice chute door Miguel D. • Sandia Park , NM • April 27, 2024
Originally, replaced the door open/close motor thinking it was failing, but after a while ice chute door started to not fully open again. That left only two other failure modes - - signal pulse duration from control board, or the convoluted plastic link, lever, and cap assembly shaft binding/bending. Replaced them all. Since then operating correctly - - no further issues. It is possible the plastic levers and/or door cap shaft was binding, or bending, not allowing the cap to fully open. For...

Broken hinge on freezer door for lg lfd2260st Miguel L. • North Hills , CA • February 27, 2017
I was not able to find a tutorial for this repair so I decide to put in the steps.
1.Remove freezer door. Process is shown in a tutorial off this site or many others off the net.
2. Once the door is removed you will have access to 8 screws holding 2 hinges from the pantry rail to the freezer door.
3. I found it easier to make the repair by removing both hinges from the freezer door to just work with the rail and the hinges.
4. This way you have access to the front part of the rail that the...

This small plastic gear is part of the freezer drawer slide mechanism, allowing the drawer to open and close smoothly on its track. It meshes with the rail system to provide controlled, even movement of the drawer. Replace this gear if the freezer drawer is difficult to open, feels jerky or uneven when sliding, or if the original gear teeth are worn or broken.

Lower freezer door would not stay shut turns out a shaft with gears was missing from initial install Bruce M. • New River , AZ • August 08, 2016
Ordered the parts, which was a pair of ice gears and the bar that connects them. Had to refer to upper freezer drawer to figure out how the gears fit into the rails. Turns out they snap into a plastic hub that is riveted on the rail. Took some effort to finally get them to snap on. At first it seemed like they would not fit. Really had to apply force to get them to go on. Then added bar, which seems to me to be slightly short in length. It works, but I think if any tension is put on it,...
