Our water dispenser stopped working and the ice maker stopped working also Neil R. • Saint Louis , MO • March 11, 2016
Once I was convinced that the water supply and filter wasn't the problem, I took the back protective panel and looked at the valve assembly. It looked corroded, especially on top where the ?pistons for the solenoids?would project into. I ordered the part and it was on my doorstep in TWO days...really fast. ER CO was displayed refrigerator stopped working Christopher B. • Colorado Springs , CO • January 16, 2019
Unplugged frig to check connections, everything was ok. When I plugged it back in, nothing worked and the display and ice maker were flickering and clicking. Unplugged the display connector on the main board and could hear clicking from the main board itself.
Replacing the main board and capacitor fixed it. I only replaced the capacitor as a precaution. it may not have been bad, but I did it for good measure. Everything is working great now and I don't have to buy a new refrigerator.

The Compressor Overload Protector is an OEM replacement part for LG refrigerators. It plays an important safety role in protecting the compressor from damage due to excessive heat. Located near the compressor unit, the overload protector functions to shut off power to the compressor if temperatures become too high during operation.
Causes can include normal wear over time rendering it less responsive to temperature changes. Mineral or refrigerant deposits may also impede its ability to detect overheating conditions accurately.
Symptoms of a faulty overload protector include:
- Refrigerator fails to properly cool or the compressor does not run
- Circuit board or electrical component failure or burnout
- Lack of cold air production and higher than normal freezer/fridge temperatures
This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Sears/Kenmore models.
