Original casters for samsung fridge were flattened out from weight not from sliding sideways Yitz G. • Phoenix , AZ • November 27, 2017
Samsung does not make it easy to replace the casters. The shafts holding the casters are crimped at the ends and had to be cut off with little room for any tools. I had to jack up the fridge and I used a hacksaw blade with a handle to cut through the wheel shafts. I didn't want to use a reciprocating saw. I couldn't find a way to crimp the new shafts so I drilled small holes at the ends and used cotter pins to retain the shafts in place. The rear caster had no room to slide the new one in...

Dryer would not start. John K. • Lawrenceville , GA • November 03, 2017
The start button had been tricky to use. You had to push it in just a certain way to get the dryer to start. Eventually it was non-responsive. All other controls worked and there was no error code displayed. The repair was to replace the whole control board which cost around $100. Heavy sigh..
Be sure to keep track of all your screws.
BTW it was not the thermal fuse. All the online videos say this is the first thing to look for when the dryer will not start. Be sure to check with the person...

The refrigerator was building up ice on the evaporator to the point that it was interfering with the cooling fan Louis R. • Corpus Christi , TX • May 14, 2016
I replaced the temperature sensor, the thermo fuse, and the heating element that thaws the evaporator on a cycle to keep the evaporator from freezing up. The most time consuming part of the repair was waiting for the fridge to thaw out so that I could remove the cover. I disconnected the fridge the night before and placed a fan on low with the doors open so that it was thawed out when I awoke. It was easy to remove the evaporator cover once I removed all of the shelves. I took pics as i was...

Plastic piece broke from bottom of freezer door wouldn't close or stay shut Shawn S. • Tampa , FL • September 05, 2015
Ordered the pieces from here. Downloaded the user manual. I never work on appliances but I couldn't justify the $200 a service tech would have charged to fix a $35 part. Followed the manual and removed the door. Replaced the broken plastic pieces. BE VERY CAREFUL not to strip the screws. I did and that's another story. Very easy to fix. You will need a second person to help guide the door back onto the frame.

The alarm was beeping constantly the ice maker did not work and the water did not dispense Rod F. • Grand Blanc , MI • December 27, 2019
I thought that I needed to repair the water supply. But it all looked OK. I had turned the power off for a few minutes hoping to clear any false info from the numerous power outages. And with hours of research, I found some info about the door switch on top of the freezer. It suggested placing a magnet above the switch to silence the noise. This did the trick. Shortly after I heard the ice maker filling. I tested the water feed, and it was working. I then ordered a new switch and replaced it....

Flap on ice dispenser was loose Bruce B. • Corpus Christi , TX • March 12, 2019
I was buying a part for my other refrigerator and decided to replace the ice tray on my LG, as it was not emptying properly. When I found the part, I also saw a video attached to the ice dispenser parts. I had taped over the ice dispenser years ago and would just open the freezer for ice. Watched the video and they sure made it look easy to replace that flap, so I decided to give it a shot. I replaced the ice tray as soon as the parts came in, but did not have the time to tear off the front...

This plastic closing cam mounts at the bottom hinge of the refrigerator door and uses a ramped surface to help the door swing closed on its own when released at a slight angle. It acts as a gravity-assisted door closer to ensure a proper seal. Replace this cam if the refrigerator door no longer self-closes, stays ajar, or if the cam is cracked or worn down.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Both parts of the lower door closer cam assembly were broken on the freezer door Steve M. • Black Diamond , WA • January 06, 2018
The repair itself is pretty basic, remove broken parts and replace with new, but the process is much more challenging on the freezer door than on the fridge side since the water lines are routed through the hinge. This is definitely a two person job and you will be laying on the floor to do it. 1st thing is to turn the water off and remove the ice bucket. Remove top trim piece and release upper hinge assembly, support the door. The top hinge must rotate up to slip over the wiring bundle,...
