Hello Randy, Clean around the ignitor where the spark should jump across. You can accomplish this satisfactorily using hot water and white vinegar mixed 50///50, and an old toothbrush. I never recommend to use sandpaper because of the wear caused on the burner by the sandpaper.

Hello Stacey, To remove a gas valve: A) Remove the spark switch or potentiometer, then remove the two screws from the clamp and remove the valve. B) Install the spark switch or potentiometer on the new gas valve and reconnect the wires, then mount the gas valve to the manifold with the clamp and two screws. C) Check the new connections for leaks using a soap/water solution. Never check for leaks with an open flame. Mix the solution with no more than one teaspoon of liquid soap to a quart of water. If you check your e-mail trash folder, you will find illustrated instructions that your e-mail account kicked back to me as "permanently un-deliverable".
