Hello Suzanne, The ignitor mounts using the Mounting Ring Clip 189322 00189322. If yours isn't mounting tightly, the clip is most likely warped from all of the temperature changes it has been through. It simply clips to the bottom of the ignitor to keep it secure in its' installation.

Hello, Remove all of the grates, knobs, and burner caps. Remove the nuts from the center, (which are called venturi's), and get a towel for each end of the unit to protect the counter top. Carefully remove the star burners and unplug the ignitor wires from the bottom of them. Set these aside carefully, carefully protecting the ignitors. Turn off the gas to the unit and unplug it, (or turn off the breaker). Lift the unit and slide the towels under the ends of it and set it down diagonally over the opening so it will stay above counter top level. Now remove the screws from around the sides of the unit. This will enable you to raise the main top and access the internal components. Re-assembly is the reverse of the dis-assembly procedures. One note, I always put a very small amount of white lithium grease TJ20000030 on the threads of the venturi's before re-installation to prevent seizing. I also never tighten them down very tight as this will cause them to seize even with the grease in place.

Can a spark re-igniter fail on just one burner? My first problem was the two XLO burners would not light. There was no spark. I replaced the two potentiometers. It did not correct the problem. Last weekend I replaced the gas simmer controller. Now the front XLO burner sparks when the back XLO burner control knob is turned, and gas flows when the back XLO burner knob is turned. This results in both XLO burners working when I manually light the back XLO burner. Now I didn't see any wires we could have crossed in this process so I'm questioning if Bosch has crossed the wires internally in the upgraded gas simmer controller? So where do I go from here? My inclination is to replace the spark re-igniter, but could this module fail on just one burner?

Hello Sma69. Yes, you will need to order and replace the spark module on the unit.

Hello Mike. If the venturi is loose, it should lift upward and out of the burner. You may not have it loose enough in the unit.

Jr for Model Number PRG304US - Thermador

After a cleaning, two of my burners started having problems. The left front, (Extra Low), burner does not spark and gets no gas. The right front, (Standard), burner gets gas but usually only lights when another burner is turned on. It's worth noting that both of the igniters on these burners are somewhat loose with the one on the right being able to lift out completely (must have lost clip underneath). I tried to remove center nuts on both burners but both were too tight for my standard sockets. I'm sure I need a metric socket. Do you know what size? I'm concerned that the nuts are completely frozen. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hello JR, If they worked before cleaning, I would first use a safety pin to go through each hole to ensure they are clear. You see, the gas is under so little pressure that the gas pressure is checked with a tube full of water. The gas will move the water, but will not blow it out. The gas is such a low pressure that it cannot blow debris out of the holes. As far as the size, I really couldn't say as I always use my crescent wrench and a screwdriver in the hole in the wrench handle. This gives me the leverage needed to break them loose. Before I reinstall I always put a little lubriplate on the threads to prevent seizure so next time it isn't as hard to remove.

Hi Tony. Use a volt/ohm meter part #@ MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Make sure the elecrical outlet has the correct polarity. Make sure the narrowere terminal of the outlet is the positive 120 vac to ground and also the neutral. Make sure the wider terminal to the ground has 0-volts. If these terminals are reversed (polarity) this will do what you describe. Get a qualkified electrician to correct this if necessary. If you have a shorted burner valve switch part # 00411415 it will keep the ignition spark module energized. Ohm out the burner switch and see if one of them or the swith wires are shorted when they are supposed to be open. If you have a bad spark module part 00753257 it will keep energized also. I would diagnose this systematically like mentioned as to try to save money. Thank You.

Hello Peter. You will need to remove the venturi from the center of the star burner and lift out the burner. Once removed, you will remove the clip on the bottom of the igniter to remove the igniter 00189324 from the burner. Hope this helps.
