Bill July 28, 2020 for Model Number Thermador GPS 366 When I try the two simmer knobs I get no sign of ignition, nor do I smell gas at either one. If I turn on another burner all ignitors start sparking, even the simmer burners, but still no gas smell. I am guessing this is two different issues. Any suggestions, thank you
1 Answer Bill, with the power cord unplugged, it is recommended that the potentiometers 00422748 are tested for continuity from terminal 1 to terminal 5 while the switch is in the on position. If the switches have continuity, the failure would most likely be in the simmer controller 00422882. Unfortunately, if the simmer controller is found to be the cause, it has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available. Read More...
Osvaldo May 07, 2020 for Model Number PG366BLP/07 My oven turns on, but when it reaches a temperature it turns off ... then it turns back on ... but it doesn't heat enough
1 Answer Osvaldo, it is possible that the oven sensor 00627375 is not registering temperatures properly. The sensor can be tested for resistance and it should measure 1050O at room temperature. When the sensor is heated up (a hairdryer or heat gun can be used to increase temperature), it should measure 1250O at 150°F, 1650O at 350°F, and 1750O at 400°F. If the sensor tests within range at room temperature and the sensor can not be indirectly heated to test for higher resistances, the other possibility would be the main control 00709785 not registering when the temperatures are too low. Walter April 26, 2020 for Model Number thermador pd364gdbs two out of the four burners will not spark to light but I get the smell of gas. Also when a switch the wiring and the spark ignitor the same two still do not spark. What could this be (potentiometer or the ignitor controller) and how do I test them to see if they are bad?
1 Answer Walter, based on the information provided, the failure is either going to be in the re-ignitor or the simmer control. With the gas supply turned off, the re-ignitor can be tested at SW1 to ground, and SW2 to ground for 120VAC when each switch is activated. If there is 120VAC at both points, the re-ignitor 00189010 has failed. If there is not 120VAC, the simmer control 00645446 has failed Read More...
Olivier February 02, 2020 for Model Number P364GECS/06 My simmer burner doesn't work, no gas, no spark. The other 3 are fine. I hesitate between the solenoid valve and the potentiometer, how do I figure out which is defective? When I turn the knob the 'burner' light comes on so I believe the potentiometer is working (electronics tend to fail, not partially work). Thanks
1 Answer Olivier, With this issue, the most likely cause of failure for no spark and no gas would be a faulty potentiometer. Read More...
Cambman February 01, 2020 for Model Number PRSE484GGS I believe your cross check may be incorrect. I have a Thermador PRSE484GGS. It was manufactured in 1997 (97040054) The website indicates the 422748 potentiometer will not work with my range. When I removed the front control panel I found that the potentiometer is a ARK-LES Corporation 521 07 007 REV G which appears to be the same thing as 422748. We are the 4th owner of the house so either Thermador information is correct or the unit may be equipped with the newer 422882 simmer controller in which case the 497234 would not be the correct simmer controller for the unit. Can you please confirm if the 422748 will work correctly?
1 Answer Cambman, The potentiometer 00422748 would be the correct potentiometer for this unit. Read More...
Chris January 13, 2020 for Model Number PGR484GGZS/04 I have a thermador range model number PGR48GGZS/04 and serial number 39312008092 90012. I am looking for a poteniometer for the left rear burner knob. Do you have this part?
Peter October 24, 2019 for Model Number SGCS365RS I have a SGCS365R Serial Number 81090310NB and have determined that one of my potentiometers have gone bad such that one of my simmer burners does not work. To test, I swapped them and the problem moved with the swap. In my parts diagram, I see part number 20-02-419 and am confused by the discussion in other questions about which part can be used to replace it because it seems like the older part is avaialble but the newer one is not. At first, I thought I should get 00189819 (which is discontinued) but in other places I see part number 00422748. Which is the right part for me? Do I need any other parts? I notice there is a kit 497234 that includes 2 of 422748 and 1 of 422882. Do I need to replace these items as a set?
1 Answer Peter, the potentiometer 00189819 is what would be recommended by the manufacturer for your model and serial number. Unfortunately, it is discontinued and no longer available. Read More...
Barry July 28, 2019 for Model Number SGCS365RS I have a Thermador SGCS365RS and the two XLO burners are not working. Will replacing the potentiometer solve the problem? If yes which potentiometer do I need? Is it 422748 or 422749? I noticed some of your responses told SGCS365RS owners to get the 422748 and some answers said to get the 422749. Thanks
1 Answer Barry, without some testing, it can not be ensured if the potentiometers have failed. As both of the XLO burners are not operating at the same time, it would be more likely that the simmer control 00422882 has failed. This can be tested by turning off the gas and accessing under the cooktop panel. From there, the potentiometers can be tested by placing a volts meter on the DC setting and placing the red probe onto the L1 lug on the terminal block. From there, touch the black meter probe to terminal 3 on the LF potentiometer and it should read 5VDC when off, 4VDC when on, 1VDC when in the low setting, and 0VDC when in the XLO setting. If it does not read these voltages, then the potentiometer has failed. The same testing procedure can be done for the LR potentiometer. If either of the potentiometers fail, they are part number 00422749, however, Please note If your appliance serial number starts with 9706 on up use part number 00189819 which, unfortunately, is a discontinued item. If the potentiometers both pass testing, the controller has failed and would need to be replaced. Unfortunately, the controller has been discontinued as well. Read More...
John Mattis June 19, 2019 for Model Number Thermador cooktop SGCS304RS I need a replacement potiementer for the Thermador 00189871 part. Is their and equivalent Bosch part that could be used or is the Thermador part still available. The other simmer burner works just fine.
Robert February 26, 2019 for Model Number SGCS365RS I have a Thermador SGCS365RS serial number 97060101. Will the potentiometer 422749 work with the original simmer control unit SQ003? Thank you.
1 Answer Robert, it should work as it is specifically listed as the OEM replacement part from the manufacturer. Read More...
