The Potentiometer is an OEM replacement part for Bosch gas range or cooktops. It functions as a three-terminal resistor that adjusts the flow of electric current, which in turn, controls the ignition and temperature of the cooktop. This component is essential for the precise operation and control of the gas burners, ensuring they light up and maintain the desired flame intensity.

Causes of a malfunctioning Potentiometer can be attributed to wear and tear, electrical issues, or damage due to spills and cleaning products. A compromised potentiometer affects the flow of electric current, leading to issues with the ignition and temperature control of the gas burners.

Symptoms of a bad Potentiometer include:

  • The cooktop not lighting or staying lit
  • The ignitor continuously clicking without igniting the burner
  • Inability to adjust the flame intensity or temperature accurately

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models.

For Bosch Potentiometer (Part Number: OEM11348934)

Hello Steve, I'm sorry but the old potentiometers will not work with the new simmer control and the new potentiometers will not work with the old simmer control. This is what the manufacturer means when they say to replace all parts when ordered in the kit 00497234 because the potentiometers and controllers are incompatible with one another. Attempting to do so will destroy the simmer controller and can create a fire hazard with the potentiometers.

Jerry, Unfortunately the xlo burners cannot be replaced with regular burners. If you got the potentiometer 00422748 then this will not work for your unit and will need to get potentiometer 00422749. It is still a new design but the wire harness should still connect to it.

Russ for Model Number RDSS30 S/N 9707 & UP

Thanks for your prompt reply and recommendation (to replace the solenoid valve) to my previous question which was as follows:( Left rear burner does not lite, no gas flow. All burners spark. I replaced the gas valve for that burner to no avail. Your web site says potentiometer #AP3782975 is not compatible with my model. What next? Thanks.) I misspoke as I replaced the solenoid valve not the gas valve. Since that is what you recommended, what should I try next? The potentiometer? The simmer controller? Thanks again.

Hello Russ. If the solenoid was new, then the gas valve would be next. replace the gas valve for that burner.

Scott, The most likely cause for the indicator light to stay on for this unit would be a faulty potentiometer which for your unit is part number 00647864.
