For Bosch Cooktop Spark Igniter Switch (Part Number: OEM8464800)

Peter for Model Number PRG304US

Thermador 30" gas range with xtra low burners, about 10 years old. The xtra low burner we use the most will click a few times after its turned off (after a few mins and up to 10 minutes after). Then it seems to stop until the next time we use the burner. It doesn't seem to do it when off for a long time. Tried cleaning burners well and tested to ensure it's not water or steam by leaving off for many hours, turning on for a few seconds and then off again and it clicked once again after a minute. It doesn't ignite when it does this. The igniters do not continue to spark when on and otherwise work fine. Wondering if it's the igniter (00189324) or the switch (00189008) or possibly the potentiometer for the xtra lower burner (can't find that part)?

Hello Peter, the control module (00422882), is failing, however, it is no longer available from the manufacturer.

Rich D, Thanks for the question. Based on the information provided I would check the wiring to this electrode to make sure there are no breaks or shorted places that are sparking before the ignitor.

Ram for Model Number ngt7335

Hi We have Bosch gas cook top model number ngt7335. The front right ignitor doesn't spark when knob is turned on, I am able to ignite the burner with a match. Also i made sure that all the burner holes are clear including the ones that face ignitor. Interestingly if I turn on the knob for any of the other three burners (front left, rear right, rear left), this front right ignitor gives spark. Is the ignitor switch for the front right burner faulty? If ignitor switch is the problem, is this the right part 00189008?

1 Answer

Ram, The ignition switch on the burner valve will be the most likely cause for this issue and can be tested for continuity in the light position. If there is no continuity then it is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Malcolm for Model Number NGP745UC/01

I have a Bosch Natural Gas 4 burner cooktop (NGP745UC/01) that I recently installed. Three of the 4 burners light with no problem, however the 4th burner, the lower right (with simmer) that would be used the most, has good spark but will not light. Additionally, that same lower right burner sparks when any of the other three burners are turned on. From reading other posts it would appear the spark switch for that lower right burner needs to be replaced, however the sparking on that burner when not turned on doesn't seem to fit any of the other diagnosis. Thank you

Malcolm, Based on the information provided I would start by checking to see if the burner lights with a match or lighter. If it does then check the burner holes near the ignitor to make sure nothing is plugged or stopped up. If that is not it then check the gas and air adjustments. If it does not light with a match or lighter then check the gas valve for that burner.

Stan, It is a good chance that the spark switch would be the issue. You can test the switch for continuity in the light position and if there is continuity then it would be good. In this case, the spark module would be the most likely issue. If there is no continuity then the switch would be defective.

Davinder, Yes, the most likely cause for this will be a faulty ignition switch. To remove the venturi you should be able to get a socket on it and turn it out.

Hello Lisa, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can give a proper diagnosis and recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. While Bosch does make parts for Thermador units, we cannot say if it will work or not without consulting with the manufacturers' parts list. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Jason for Model Number Thermador SGS365CS/02

You've addressed how to open a similar unit to my SGS365CS/02 saying that there are screws around the perimeter that release the top from the base. This is not the case for my unit. It looks like there are metal hangers that protrude out the sides the base that the base hangs from when the unit is right side up. If there were some way to push those "hangers" back inside the base it would release the base but they do not move. It looks like I would have to break the rivets holding the 4 corners of the base and bend back the sheet metal that forms the sides of the base to clear these "hangers", after which the top may come off. do you have a diagram of this unit that might clear this up?

Hello Jason, If you loosen the screws in these brackets you will find that the brackets will un-hook from the appliance body for the removal of the unit.

Mahnrut for Model Number Thermador RDSS30

1) is Thermador now owned by Bosch as those parts seem to come up 2) one of our non-Lo burners does not spark but gas is there and it can be lit by match. Over the years (20?) we have had issues with this much used burner but with close attention to cleaning (now it is spotless) we have managed to get it going (never a problem with gas supply). Do you think the spark switch needs changing? Hate to spend a lot for this repair professionally as such an old stove but otherwise in excellent condition. Thanks.

1 Answer

Mahnrut, You will want to check the ignition switches and make sure that the switch has continuity in the light position. If this checks ok then the issue will most likely be a faulty spark module or the igniter is faulty.
