Charlie, You will want to get the tech sheet out from the unit and put the unit into a diagnostics mode. See if there are any error codes that are stored. It sounds like you may have a bad control board but this is the best option to check it and see what error may come up.

When the washer was running yesterday, I noticed a burning rubber smell. I was going to get a belt and replace it. Before I could do that, I tried to run it today. It will start and then shut off within 5 seconds. It gives Err message, but no code. I know the difference between burning rubber and electrical motor smell, so confident the motor isn't bad. I also checked the motor and belt, both spin free and look good. Does this sound like the control board?

Hello Brian, NOTE: During normal operation, the display may show: “SAn” - deep clean (Sanitary Cycle) “cd” - cool down (Sanitary cycle) “do” or “dr” - door problem. “Err” - an error has been detected. “LOC” - control lock is activated. “PAU” - cycle has been interrupted. READING ERROR CODES: 1. Wake the washer by pressing any button. 2. Wait 5 seconds. 3. Press and HOLD the Start/Pause and Cancel buttons simultaneously. As long as the buttons are held, the failure code will appear in the display as an E followed by two numbers, a number and a letter or two letters. The control will beep and the Door Lock, Wash, Rinse, and Final Spin indicator lights will flash. NOTE: Pressing any button during operation of the cycle will produce flashing indicator lights, beeping and “Err” will be displayed. To change a setting after the cycle starts, press Start/Pause before making the adjustment. Changes made to the cycle will automatically be remembered each time that cycle is selected in the future. If you inadvertently erase the fault code, the unit will operate normally until the fault is sensed again and will once again display ERR, indicating the need to pull the code to lead you to the component at fault.

Hello Scott, You can pull the tech sheet from the envelope in the bottom of the unit for the wiring diagram but I do not believe any of the wires will connect where they are not supposed to be connected.

I have my washer elevated about 5 inches off the ground on a rolling dolly. We had a flood in the neighborhood and I had about 10 inches of water in the garage. The washer was about 5 inches deep in the water. I replaced the control board MFG Number 134743500. That was the only part I thought was under water. I am still getting the communication error. The washer was never unplugged. Do you think the electrical control panel MFG Number 137006030 might have got fried?

1 Answer

Hello Chris, You will probably need to replace the main control 137006030 and possibly the wiring harness 137104600 also, (because of corrosion that will prevent the boards from communicating with one another.
