Doug February 18, 2021 for Model Number PLEF398CCD Can one repair a disrupted coil on a burner? My left rear burner went out last night, and I could see through the glass top where the coil burned hot and bright until it fizzled out, effectively killing the entire coil. I lifted the hood (the glass top), and could easily see the precise spot where the coil was damaged. Just wondering if there's any way to repair the damaged spot and bring the coil back to life. This isn't a single-burner replacement, or I'd just do that. My left side burners (w/bridge) are all one-piece, which at last check ran about 500.00. Is there a simple fix? A way to affect a tiny bridge to restore the disrupted current to the coil?
1 Answer Doug, There is no way to repair the damaged coil and you would need to replace the element for this. Read More...

Jeff February 27, 2017 for Model Number 79099019102 I recently had a power surge hit the stove. Which left the unit completely dead. I replaced the main control board which gave me the clock, oven, bake, broil, warmer drawer, warmer stove top burner. However, I have no stove top burners (4 main) digitally controlled. Also, when I hit the self clean button I get an F2 error and beep, same when I hit the oven lock function. I believe it is the Main Power Board or (Electronic Surface Element Control- ESEC) which my original paperwork from the back of the oven says the P/N is 316259136 (0205) REV A. is the new replacement part # 316239403KITK. Will this take care of my problem with the burners as well as the F2 error I get when I hi the self clean button.
1 Answer Jeff, Yes this control board 316239403KITK will be the part that will correct this issue. Read More...
Melinda May 31, 2015 for Model Number PLEF398ACB The relay board, 316239403KITK, ware replaced about 5 years ago as a recall repair. As I understand it, the way the oven vents causes moisture and heat to short out the board. As a part of the repair the tech applied a piece of aluminum tape that was supposed to prevent this from happening again. Now the left front burner doesn't heat at all though the display indicates it's working. Sometimes all the burners will flash f7 when you are using more than one. Sometimes the digital display for a burner will not settle on setting - for example you try to set it to 7.0 and the numbers keep changing and the burner never really heats. I've ruled out the switches as the problem (swapped the no-heat one with the one from the other side and both behaved the same as before the swap). Does it sound like the relay board has failed again? It's an expensive part, so I'm not inclined to replace it without some confidence that this will solve my problem.
1 Answer Melinda, Based on the issue that you are having with the numbers changing and the one element not working, This issue would most likely be caused by the relay control board. Read More...

Firebrand454 November 04, 2013 for Model Number Plef398ccc Stove doesn't heat up. Would that be the control board? Burners on top work fine.
1 Answer Hello Firebrand454. Test and see if there is power coming to the control board and out of the board on bake cycle. If not, then the control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
