For Frigidaire Refrigerator Water Filter (Part Number: OEM7616916)

Brooke for Model Number Filter FC-100 PureSource 2 Frigidaire filter (WF2CB)

I recently ordered a replacement filter for my refrigerator. It is the exact same filter we ordered last time. The new one continually pops out. After calling customer support, they determined the new one must be faulty, so we decided to put our old filter back in until we could order another new filter. Now the old one will stay in for a short amount of time and run fine (between one hour and half a day), but then it also pops out even though we have had no prior problems with it. Both the new and old filters click into place without difficulty, but as soon as the water runs, it will pop out. We have the old one back in right now since it is intermittently working, but not sure why it won't stay in since it was working just fine before I tried to replace it.

Brooke, This issue will be caused by a bad filter head and you will need to replace the filter base on the unit.

Jennifer for Model Number Frigidaire PLHS237ZAB6

I recently had a water softener installed and apparently there was an air leak. I kept having troubles with air in the water lines throughout the house, including the refrigerator. Got the water softener problem fixed but as a result my water filter in the refrigerator now leaks water and I've changed the water filter and it did not correct the problem. I have also purged the water for 3 minutes and that did not help. Any ideas? Thanks

Jennifer, With this issue the most likely cause for the unit to leak at the filter would be a filter housing that is faulty. The part number for the filter base is 240396002.

Chickadee, This issue would require that the base be replaced. There is a slight difference between the original filter and the new filter that does not allow them to click in place.

S, you will need to replace the water filter base [240396002]. The new filters will not seat and lock into the older filter base. The part is in stock and available at this time. Thanks,

Hello Sam, This sounds like you may have a bad filter head. For a more detailed diagnosis with mfg. recommended part numbers, please post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Fred. It sounds like the filter base is bad. Try pushing the button faster and harder and pull on the filter as you do it. Hopefully this will release the filter from the base.
