Hello Barb, You will most likely need to replace the filter head. This would be a part number listed under the model number from your units' I.D. tag.

Tim for Model Number Kenmore Refrigerator Model No. 253.5436240P

I just purchased a home with a Kenmore Refrigerator Model No. 253.5436240P. It has a Pure Source 2 Ice/water filtration system. After moving in, I hooked up water line for the ice maker and water dispenser. The problem I am having is that once I turned the water on to the fridge, water leaked constantly all over the inside of the fridge from the area where the filter is installed. I tried taking it out and pushing it back in a few times but that did not help. I have never had one of these so I am curious as to what the fix may be.Thanks for the help.

Tim, First you will want to check the filter to make sure that the filter did not get cracked. It may be necessary to replace the filter. If that does not take care of it then you will want to replace the filter base.

Susan, it sounds like the filter housing will need to be replaced. We'll need your model number to verify the replacement part numbers. Thanks.
