Will, it sounds as if your icemaker is defective. Manually turning the icemaker about half a cycle should activate the fill cycle. If the icemaker will not cycle, you will need a new icemaker. If the icemaker does cycle but does not fill, you may need a new inlet valve. Please give us your model number so we can help locate your parts.

Tony, This issue sounds like you may have a shorted wire harness which would cause this issue. You would want to test wires that would go to the icemaker and test the wires in the wire harness that the icemaker connects to.

Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
