Electrolux with French doors, freezer on bottom. About 3 weeks ago the touchpad started beeping constantly and the freezer temp was lowering from 0 to minus 6. Eventually the touch pad would not respond so I unplugged the unit. The beeping stopped and the unit ran fine for about 10 days. On a more humid day the touchpad would start beeping again, stop responding to touch commands. It will start beeping then lower the freezer temp from 0 to minus 6. This happened repe Also, prior to this about 5 months ago ice was forming in the back of the refrigerator section above the drain hole in the back left corner. I cleared this ice several times including clearing ice in the drain tube and pouring hot water to verify the drain tube was noT blocked. Last week I spoke with one of your technical support persons and he concluded the problem was either the temperature sensor In the freezer or the control board. He suggested I replace the freezer temperature sensor. I ordered the part and replaced it today. As I was replacing the sensor I found a large block of ice in the freezer compartment to the left of the coils. I removed the chunk with a hair dryer and it took about 30 minutes. Then I replaced the freezer temp sensor. After the freezer got to 0 it ran fine for about 4 hours then the touchpad started beeping constantly again and it shows the freezer temp is being lowered to minus 6.

Randy, Based on the issue, this would sound like an issue with the control board on the unit.

JB, There is a thermistor in the refrigerator compartment that you will need to test for 5K ohms of resistance at room temp. If the sensor checks ok then the damper would be the other part that would cause this type of issue.

Patty, with the unit unplugged, the thermistor circuit will need to be tested at the main control. At connection J6 pin 11 and 12 (both are gray wires with black stripes), the thermistor will have a resistance reading. If there is not a resistance reading when measuring ohms, then there may be a wiring issue that would need to be traced. If there is a resistance reading, then the most likely failure would be in the main control 5304510307.

Hello James, the temp sensor is part 240597220, also check the airflow from the freezer to the ref and also the air return duct ref to freezer is not blocked.

Robert, based on the information provided, the last component that could cause this issue aside from a possible broken wire would be the control 5303918340. The defrost circuit can be tested from the control once the unit is unplugged by testing for resistance from connection P1 pin 7 to pin 11. The resistance should read 30 ohms.

I have a Kenmore French door refrigerator that is about 3 years old. It recently started not cooling enough in the refrigerator. With the freezer set on 0F, I was reading 1F and with the fridge set on 33F or 35F, I was reading 40F on my temp meter on the shelf and 49F at the door. I checked and cleaned the condenser fan and coils and they appear fine. I checked the evap fan and coils. The evap fan appeared to spin freely and the coils were not iced over. I am getting temp readings close to 48F at the door where we used to keep the milk. Could it be the regulating bypass door or the thermistor? Can you give me any advice on what to check next to narrow down which part I need?

Tim, the refrigerator thermistor can be tested for resistance at the main control at connection J4A pin 3 to pin 9 with the refrigerator unplugged and the wiring connector disconnected. The wires should test for 22.834 K Ohms of resistance at 40°F, 24.5 K Ohms at 37°F. If the thermistor does not match up to the actual temperature, then the thermistor 240597220 has failed. However, the temperature will fluctuate inside of the cabin of up to 4 degrees of tolerance as it cycles the compressor to maintain temperatures. If the door thermometer is being introduced to room temperature and does not have a log, it will increase in temperature rapidly as it hits warmer temperatures. If the cabin temperature fluctuates more than 4° in tolerance from the set temperature, and the thermistor checks good, then the most likely issue would be the main control 242115279.

Steve, you may want to test the refrigerator and freezer thermistors 240597220 to ensure that they are reading temperature accurately. They can be tested for resistance and the resistance chart will be sent to assist with this. If the thermistors read properly, then the most likely issue would be with the main control 5303918502.

Clint for Model Number Kenmore 25356274409

I am having issues with the temperature control. I have replaced the Fresh Food Cold Control as well as the entire damper assembly, and replaced the old Control board with a brand new Adaptive Defrost Control kit and harness. My fridge is just barely at 40 degrees with the control now all the way on 9 and the Freezer is at -1 with its control on 5. I am guessing my next step is the Thermistor that this model is supposed to have, but I have no idea where it is. The part is listed with the Ice Dispenser Diagrams,, does this mean it is there by the ice dispenser motor? I have had the Control Box down multiple times and I know it is not there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Clint, the thermistor 240597220 is going to be located on the auger assembly and should not impact the operating temperatures in the unit as the control thermostats regulate temperature. At -1°F with the freezer control set at 5, the freezer control 5304496561 should read as an open circuit. To test this, the freezer control would be tested for incoming and outgoing voltage. There should be 120VAC being received, but there should not be 120VAC leaving the thermostat using the information provided. If the thermostat is allowing 120VAC to pass through, then the adaptive defrost control is going to cause the damper assembly to let only enough air to flow through to keep it cold enough, but cause most of the cold air to be retained in the freezer until the temperature is met in the freezer side.
