Mg01 April 03, 2015 for Model Number PSCS5RGXAFSS Our 5-1/2-yr-old GE Profile side-by-side dispenses water fine, but is not making ice. How can I decide whether to replace the ice maker or the dual inlet water valve (both repairs look pretty straightforward)? One response to a previous question asked if water is getting up to the ice maker - what is the best way to test for this (i.e., is the fill tube frozen or is water just not coming up from the valve)? I tried using a hair dryer on the inlet to the ice maker, and that did not seem to help. I poured water into the ice maker and it is still liquid after nearly 4 hours (freezer temperature is 0 F), so I'm suspecting that the ice maker is not getting cold enough and that it is probably the faulty part. What else should I do to diagnose the cause of the problem? Thanks for the help!
1 Answer MG, Disconnect the wires from the ice maker solenoid on the fill valve WR57X10070 (red colored solenoid) attach a meter set for voltage or a test light to the wires. At the ice maker in the freezer, make sure the ice maker is on, press the auto off lever in and out 3 times within 5 seconds. The ice maker should start a test cycle in a second or so, if the test starts then observe the meter or light, in approx. 2 minutes, when the control reaches the fill increment, there should be 120 VAC at the wires. If the ice maker doesn't start the test cycle, or there is no voltage to the fill valve, then replace the ice maker. If there is voltage present, then replace the fill valve. Read More...
Matthew March 09, 2015 for Model Number PSS26SM Icemaker wasn't making ice. Replaced the WR30X10044 with a WR30X10093. It made ice for 4 days perfectly and on the 5th day it had ice all over the ejector arm and it froze into one big clump of ice during harvest. Any suggestions? Did I not have the rotating ejector arm in the correct position when I installed it? Thanks

Chet February 13, 2015 for Model Number DSHF5PGXCEBB I have this ice maker unit OEM installed as part of my GE refrigerator. The refrigerator is fed from my RO water supply. The cubes seem to be connected to each other just slightly when dispensed. Is there a "cube size"/"water fill time" adjustment for this ice maker to prevent this as there is on many other styles of ice makers? Thanks.
1 Answer Chet, There is not a set screw for this icemaker to adjust the water fill. You will want to make sure that you do not have the filter in the unit and have the bypass plug in place. If the filter is in and the unit being on a RO system, this can cause there to be lower water pressure and not allowing the water valve to shut off completely.
