Dekker September 14, 2012 for Model Number TFX25JPCCWW THE ICEMAKER:The icemaker is of the style refrigerator is circa 2002, model 22-27? Anyway the icemaker makes ice cubes but will not dump them. (won't cycle) If I manual assis by a tug on the icemakers ejector "tabs" the arm will take over-rise up dump the ice return to down position and the icemaker fills and makes new cubes but agian does not dump w/out intervention. Any ideas as to adjust or should I just replace it? A GE repairman gets $78 to come out to the house plus parts and more labor if it takes more than aqn hour to repair. I am a mid level DIY'er and a mechanical engineer but this has me baffled. Thank you. Dekker

Jay September 13, 2012 for Model Number pss29ngmbcc Back of icemaker freezes up and freezes the icemaker crusher dispenser motor that makes cubes or crushed ice. I have replaced the Defrost limiter thermostat but it came right back. After defrosting the freezer within 2 weeks little ice cycles will form under the back motor cover and under the icebox and then the crusher dispenser motor will freeze up and won’t go up and down. I thought maybe the water coming into the ice tray could be leaking but its not. Could it be that the defrost heater warms up the ice tray and the evaporator fan is not working properly to circulate the air and dry things up before they freeze up again. In about about 2 months I will take the icemaker crusher dispenser motor apart and it is a solid block of ice, where could the water be coming from that makes it all freeze up. The ice tray sits right over this but it is not leaking or is it splashing when filling. When the ice tray is full of ice cubes can the defrost comes on and make condensation under the tray and make it drip before it freezes back up. Is this a sign of a bad evaporator fan? I am now trying a ½ inch insulation board right under the ice tray to shield it from heat when the defrost is on.
1 Answer Hello Jay, Most of the time, a condensation issue is directly related to a door strike and door seal issue causing an air leak. In cases that this isn't the cause, the contacts for the mold heater in the ice maker can be sticking. If there are any voids in the enamel on the ice maker, the ice maker can be leaking from the chipped enamel where the mold heater is crimped into the base of the ice maker. There is also the possibility that the ice maker water inlet valve might be in the early stages of failure and only sticks open once in a while or during periods of lower water pressure such as times when the washer or dishwasher is filling, or if the shower is running. The last thing I can think of to check is whether the ice maker water supply is hooked to the cold water or the hot water. If it is hooked to the hot water, the issue could be evaporation from the water fill, especially if the freezer temperature is below the recommended 0°F. Read More...

Larry September 03, 2012 for Model Number AP4345120 My ice maker was jammed by one of the plastic fingers that rotate around. I cleared the jam and am able to rotate the plastic fingers around freely. Where do I clock the fingers so that it knows that it is at the start of its cycle???

Will August 30, 2012 for Model Number GE Adora side by side Model # DSHS9NGYBCSS I previously asked the question about my ice maker barely producing any ice and that the cubes were a bit hollow. The suggestion was made for me to purchase a water inlet valve part #AP3192626. I purchased the part but my ice maker is still simply not producing ice consistently. Laura C. August 29, 2012 for Model Number ZISB48DYB My GE Built in Refrigerator is about 12 years old. It still makes ice but there are 2 problems: The feeler arm does not raise automatically anymore so the ice maker never stops making ice unless I manually lift the arm. Sometimes I also notice a frozen icle hanging from the ice maker into the ice bin like there is a slow water leak? When I put the feeler arm in the down position to start making ice I can hear the little motor run and the arm trys to raise but only gets about 1/2" and does not raise any more. So my general question is: should I replace the whole icemaker even though it still makes ice, or is there a specific part you can reccomend replacing that will make the feeler arm raise & lower automatically like it is supposed to? Kelli August 28, 2012 for Model Number GTS18XCSARWW I have replaced the icemaker, water inlet valve, checked for frozen lines, checked for water flow in lines, checked water pressure and freezer temperature, but still have no water entering the ice tray. Could it be the solenoid? If so, where is it located and how do you change it?
1 Answer Hello Kelli, The only thing you didn't mention is the electrical connections. You should force a cycle to see if the new components are hooked up properly and are not defective. To force a cycle, unplug the unit for at least 30 seconds. As soon as you plug the unit back in, open the freezer door and holding in on the door switch, operate the ice flap 3 times and only 3 times within 15 seconds of power up. This should force the ice maker to cycle. If it doesn't, I would verify the electrical connections and try it again. The solenoid is on top of the water inlet valve which you have already replaced. Tony August 28, 2012 for Model Number side by side with ice and water on door hotpoint The water will not stop running on the door and I only get crushed ice. 1 Answer Hello Tony, To stop the water running issue, you will probably have to replace the water inlet valve. I cannot look up the part number without a model number. To correct the crushed ice only issue, remove the ice bin and empty it into a bowl so you have ice to try your fix with. Now clear the ice particles out of the bottom of it with hot water. now go to the freezer and look in the back of the shelf the ice bin sets on. There should be a square hole that the linkage goes into when the ice bin is on the shelf. There should be a plastic square thing in the hole that will move up and down freely. If you don't see it, it is probably stuck in the up position. The use of a hair dryer will free it up. If this was the case, you should check the ice door in the freezer door for a proper seal with a flashlight. If you can see light around it, air can get through it. If you can't see any light around it, you should probably set the freezer to at least one setting warmer to prevent condensation. Read More...
