The Icemaker is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It is designed to produce ice cubes by automatically filling the ice mold with water, freezing it, and then ejecting the ice into the ice bucket. This part ensures a steady supply of ice for your household needs.

Causes of a bad icemaker can include mechanical wear and tear, electrical failures, or issues with the water supply. Over time, the icemaker’s components can degrade, leading to inconsistent ice production or complete failure.

Symptoms of a bad icemaker include:

  • No ice production
  • Small, misshapen, or hollow ice cubes
  • Ice maker not ejecting ice
  • Unusual noises from the ice maker

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Jason, If you remove the front cover of the icemaker there would be a set screw but unfortunately this will only adjust it minimally and it sounds likely that the icemaker may be faulty.

Hello Douglas. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. If so and the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Steve, This issue sounds like it would be caused by a possible water valve not closing all the way and would recommend a new water valve.
