The Interlock Switch is an OEM replacement part for GE electric and gas dryers. This safety component monitors the door closure, preventing operation if the door is not securely closed and latched. The switch measures 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide.

Symptoms of a faulty interlock switch include:

  • Dryer failing to start or running with the door open
  • Timer display not illuminated when start button is pressed
  • Inability to open the dryer door during operation
  • Dryer suddenly stopping mid-cycle before fully drying clothes

Causes relate to the internal component contacting the door frame over 50,000 open/close cycles potentially exposing wiring to wear. Regular cleaning the external switch area prevents dust or lint buildup skewing performance.

This genuine GE switch is compatible with Hotpoint and RCA dryers as well.

Note: Can be used as a dishwasher door switch on specific models. Check your model number for the most accurate results.

Hello Alisha, I'm not entirely sure I understand where the part you need goes. If it is the small insert that goes into the "D" shaped hold that slides onto the start switch shaft, the part number is WH01X10106. If this is not the part you are referring to, please re-post and we will figure out what you need. This might be quicker and easier if you have an e-mail address to correspond through.

Hello Francisco, This issue would be caused by a bad centrifugal switch on the motor. The motor WE17X10010 would need to be changed out.

Hello Ken, I pulled the wiring diagram for your model number and I'm not sure what switch you are referring to as an interlock switch. The only two switches on your unit that have a brown wire and a pink wire is the extra care switch (in the control panel) and the idler pulley switch (at the belt idler arm in the base). Neither one of these switches are polarized so the wires can connect to either terminal and operate normally.

Hello Ken, The most likely cause of the unit not running is the centrifugal switch on the motor WE17X10010 has failed. When you start unit the switch will take it from the start winding to the run winding. If this does not happen as soon as you let off the start switch the dryer stalls.

Hello John, The interlock switch would be the motor switch on unit. If the switch does not engage then the motor will not come on or stay on. It is also like a safety for the motor.

Hello Chad. If the motor is new in the unit, you need to make sure the wiring is good, and if so, replace the start switch on the unit.
