For Ge Refrigerator Water Filter (Part Number: OEM17364564)

Hello Steve. You will need to check and see if the water line is frozen in the freezer door. If you disconnect the line at the bottom and water comes out there, the door line is frozen and will need to be thawed out.

Chris, The part number that is listed is not showing as a being a good part number. If this is a inline water filter then it would work but if it is one that attaches inside the unit then it would not.

Wellerfish for Model Number PSDS3RGX

We replaced the water filter, and overtightened the new filter in spite of directions not to do so. Now we cannot get water to come out of the dispenser. We consulted with the troubleshooting section of the refrigerator manual, and it suggested air in the line as a cause, and instructed us to hold the dispenser arm back for at least 2 minutes. We did this and held for at least 3 minutes, but still now water flow. Next we reinstalled the old filter, and did not overtighten, yet still no water. What should we do next?

1 Answer

Wellerfish, By overtightening the filter it is possible that the filter housing has been damaged and would need to be replaced.

Judy, You will want to cycle the icemaker and check at the water valve for the icemaker for 120 vac. If there is 120 vac but no water is passing through then check to make sure that the fill tube to make sure that it is not frozen. If the fill tube is frozen then clear the fill tube and replace the water valve. If there is not 120 vac going to the valve then replace the icemaker.

Nrdawn, Take the kickplate off at the bottom of the unit and disconnect the water line at the bottom of the freezer door. Once disconnected, make sure you have a towel available, push the lever on the dispenser for water and see if water comes from the tube at the bottom of the door. If there is water that comes out then the issue will be a frozen water line in the door. If no water comes out then the water valve is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Andrew for Model Number GSH25JFXB BB

Tried several filters, Great Value, GE Official MWF, no NEW filters worked, the old filter allowed water to run but it was slow. Made some washers out of a thin cracker box and placed them inside the new filter and BAM NEW GE MWF Filter started working, when looking at the internal part of each filter the old GE "Smartwater" MWF Filter is "slightly" different than the GE MWF Filter. The change in tolerances is enough to make it a problem. Perhaps I should replace the Mwf Water Filter Manifold Assembly but I am worried that it will still be a problem. perhaps if I had a picture of the "trigger" mechanism on that assembly, aka the switch that allows the water to flow again when a filter is installed I could compare that to my switch and see if that is the problem!

Hello Andrew. Sorry, we do not have a photo of that. Usually to repair this issues, they do advise to replace the filter head on the unit.
