Joseph December 15, 2015 for Model Number Wr17x20862 What is the right water filter to use on GE part # wr17x20862, (water head housing) thank you joe
1 Answer Joe, The correct filter for the WR02X45209 / wr17x20862 Water filter Manifold Assembly is MWFP / MWFP GE Smartwater Replacement Water Filter. That's based on the part number you supplied for the manifold assembly and not the model number of the refrigerator. Thanks. Read More...
Joseph December 14, 2015 for Model Number Part # wr17x20862 I replaced the filter head assembly on my ge profile side by side part # wr17x20862. But now when I put on the MWF filter water sprays out of the filter where it connect to the filter head. The filter is secured in the head so I don't know what is wrong. I hade to change the filter head because the water line cracked behind the fridge what can't cause this?
1 Answer Hello Joseph. Make sure all the rubber o-rings are in place and that the filter is not bad. Read More...
A.G. December 07, 2015 I have replaced the filter many times over the past years. However, when I removed the GE MWF filter this time water kept pouring out of the holder until I put in the new filter. I had to wipe up quite a bit of water in the refrigerator. What happened?
1 Answer Hello A.G., The filter head has a valve inside it that has failed. For more specific information you would need to include the units' model number. Read More...
Jack S November 06, 2015 for Model Number GSH25KGPACC I replaced a water filter and a water hose. Water despenser not working and water is leaking under unit.
1 Answer Jack, You will want to pull the unit out and check the tubing going to the water valve. It sounds like the tubing that goes to the dispenser may be broken and you may be able to cut out the bad part and install into the valve. If it is too short you will need the water reservoir. Dale September 26, 2015 for Model Number Hot Point HSM25GFTASA How often should one replace the water filter?
1 Answer Hello Dale, The manufacturer recommends replacing the filter once every 3 months but if it is not used often, you can gauge it by the water flow. If the water flow slows, replace the filter MWFP. Read More...
Michele August 26, 2015 for Model Number PSS26NSWASS I just tried to replace the old water filter in my fridge. I followed directions exactly and twisted the new filter into place. Nothing. No flow. A few drips then nothing. I removed the new filter and ran tap water into it. After twisting into place again, still no flow. I put the old filter back in, and it works fine. I tried yet one more time holding the new filter under the tap water and re-installing. No flow. Absolutely nothing. Old filter is back in. What am I doing wrong?
1 Answer Hello Michele. Based on the information you provided, the filter head WR17X22072 is bad and will need to be replaced. Read More...
Steve August 23, 2015 for Model Number GE I just replaced my filter on my GE fridge with an MFW filter. There was a loud clanging sound from behind the filter. I was able to flush a couple of gallons through the new filter without issue, but ever since then I've been unable to get any water. I've removed the filter numerous times, and when replaced I can manage a trickle of water and then it stops completely. The clanging continues when I screw the filter back into place. Help!
1 Answer Steve, Based on the description of the problem it sounds like you will need to replace the water filter head. Read More...
Rob August 22, 2015 Hi, I just moved into a new house which has a GE refrigerator with MWF filter. The dispenser was working though water was a little slow. I bought a replacement MWF filter and put it in, and then ran a few pitchers of water through it. The water flow was much better. I then went to bed and the next morning went to get water out of it again, and now it is not coming out of the dispenser, but leaking underneath the refrigerator towards the back (I took the front plate off and determined the leak was not up front.) Any ideas? Thanks! Rob
1 Answer Rob, You will want to pull the unit out and check the tubing from the water valve to the dispenser. It sounds like this tubing may have a crack in it. If it does you can try to cut the damaged part out and reconnect or you would need to replace the water reservoir. Read More...
Mike August 20, 2015 Replaced filter and after a few days the water stops dispensing. Checked filter and can see frozen water inside the top. Let it thaw and the water flows only to freeze again in a few days. Tried another filter and same thing happens. Could this be the water filter head?
1 Answer Mike, The water filter head isn't likely. The water is freezing because there's cold air being directed toward it from the freezer. You need to check the damper assembly to see that it opens and closes properly, and make sure there's nothing blocking or redirecting the air flow at the filter head and filter. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Jesse. Make sure you bleed all the air from the lines in the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube is not frozen on the unit. Read More...
