Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Water Filter (Part Number: OEM17364564)

1 Answer

Cathy, The most likely cause for the dispenser and icemaker to not work would be either the water supply is pinched off for some reason or the filter head has failed and would need to be replaced.

Narelle, If the water dispenser is not working then you would disconnect the tube at the bottom of the door and push the dispenser lever to see if water comes out of the connection coming from unit the unit. If water comes out then the line in the door is clogged with ice. This would need to be thawed.

Joe, The correct filter for the WR02X45209 / wr17x20862 Water filter Manifold Assembly is MWFP / MWFP GE Smartwater Replacement Water Filter. That's based on the part number you supplied for the manifold assembly and not the model number of the refrigerator. Thanks.

Hello A.G., The filter head has a valve inside it that has failed. For more specific information you would need to include the units' model number.

Jack, You will want to pull the unit out and check the tubing going to the water valve. It sounds like the tubing that goes to the dispenser may be broken and you may be able to cut out the bad part and install into the valve. If it is too short you will need the water reservoir.

Hello Dale, The manufacturer recommends replacing the filter once every 3 months but if it is not used often, you can gauge it by the water flow. If the water flow slows, replace the filter MWFP.

Michele for Model Number PSS26NSWASS

I just tried to replace the old water filter in my fridge. I followed directions exactly and twisted the new filter into place. Nothing. No flow. A few drips then nothing. I removed the new filter and ran tap water into it. After twisting into place again, still no flow. I put the old filter back in, and it works fine. I tried yet one more time holding the new filter under the tap water and re-installing. No flow. Absolutely nothing. Old filter is back in. What am I doing wrong?

Steve, Based on the description of the problem it sounds like you will need to replace the water filter head.

Hi, I just moved into a new house which has a GE refrigerator with MWF filter. The dispenser was working though water was a little slow. I bought a replacement MWF filter and put it in, and then ran a few pitchers of water through it. The water flow was much better. I then went to bed and the next morning went to get water out of it again, and now it is not coming out of the dispenser, but leaking underneath the refrigerator towards the back (I took the front plate off and determined the leak was not up front.) Any ideas? Thanks! Rob

Rob, You will want to pull the unit out and check the tubing from the water valve to the dispenser. It sounds like this tubing may have a crack in it. If it does you can try to cut the damaged part out and reconnect or you would need to replace the water reservoir.
