For Ge Compressor Start Relay (Part Number: OEM11389533)

Sean for Model Number PSHF6RGXCDBB

My GE Profile refrigerator doesn't make clicking noise and the compressor doesn't turn on and hence no cool at all. I opened up the compressor start relay cover and the ceramic disc is not broken, but the two contact points between metal pieces are not connected (linked). Are those contact points supposed to have space or supposed to be linked with something? There isn't any broken piece in the start relay. Would it be the Main Control board issue? Compressor? Or the start relay? The main control board doesn't show any burnt elements in the front or on the back. Thank you!

Sean, You will want to test to see if there is 120 Vac getting to the overload and relay. If there is power but the compressor is not starting then this will be a faulty start device. If there is not power then the main control board will be the issue. If you opened the relay it would be recommended to replace it.

Hello Dean, If the start relay rattles, this indicates that the ceramic disk inside it has shattered and the start relay WR07X10084 will need to be replaced.

Courtney for Model Number 106.55526400

My side by side fridge quit working no cooling at all all my meat in freezer went and a long with everything in fridge my relay start device doesn't sound like bb's rattling when you shake it but there is a small sound my fans work you can hear them running there is no ice build up I've cleaned out all under fridge and the compressor turns on and runs then seems to turn off and in the back it's a Kenmore coldspot what could be the problem or how do I find out

Courtney, anytime the fans are running, the compressor should be running. Ig the compressor is stopping and not running when the fans are running, the start device is probably defective and would need to be replaced, the part number is WP2319792

Fernando, No, there will be a slight rattle of the start device but when it is bad would sound like bb's inside of it and if you tap it on your hand then small particles will come out of it.

Decio for Model Number GE GSL25IGRBBS

Hi, I do have a problem with my GE GSL25IGRBBS. There are no sound of the compressor working. When I plug it on energy the light shows on at the front. There is silent sound inside it, like guggle and after a few seconds it stops...as I said the compressor does not start, there are no clicks as the video says would happen, but I´m pretty sure is the compressor start relay, since when I shake this part, there´s a sound of broken, loose metal inside. Best regards, Decio.

Hello Mo. You will need to check the evaporator coils and see if there is frost from the top to the bottom of the evaporator coils. If it is not a full frost on the unit, then you have sealed system failure and will need to have an HVAC tech come and repair the unit. If the entire coils are frozen from top to bottom, then you need to address the defrost issue on the unit. Check the heater and thermostat on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Kevin, The test for the start relay is to remove it from the compressor and shake it. If the ceramic disc inside has shattered, you will hear it rattle and it will need to be replaced. If it does not rattle, it is good and you should test the overload. It should read the same resistance as when the meter leads are touched directly together. When testing for voltage at the compressor you will be looking for 120Vac. This will be on the lead to the overload, not the relay.
