J.D. April 23, 2014 Replaced board since nothing was coming on. Now all lights come on but the stove top and oven do not heat up. Noticed discoloration on wiring on the sensor assembly. Could this be the problem?
1 Answer Hello J.D., Since the surface and the bake compartment wiring are independent of one another, the issue is more likely to be with the power supply, (wall outlet or breaker), or at the terminal block where the power cord connects. If you need more specific information, a model number will be necessary. Read More...
Michell April 18, 2014 for Model Number JB64WHWW Clock and all the lights work, but the burners don't work. Same thing with the oven. It was working fine this morning.
1 Answer Michell, You will want to look at the power supply and look for power loss starting at that point. The issue sounds like you lost the L2 feed to the unit either from the breaker box or the plug in where the cord plugs up. The issue could also be a bad terminal block. Read More...
Charles February 01, 2014 for Model Number JBP55K455 My stove stopped working. F2 pops up when I turn it on. Took baking element to repair shop and it's good. The repair man said I need a clock on my stove? What is F2 fault code on my stove?
1 Answer Hello Charles, F-2 is the fault code for an over temperature situation. You should measure the resistance of the temperature sensor WB21X5301. It should read about 1100 ohms at room temperature. Read More...
Mary December 16, 2013 for Model Number JB988sok3ss Oven is not heating up to set temp. When started it states 200 degrees, previously started at 100 degrees. It will only heat to 325, even though it signals correct temp has been reached.
1 Answer Hello Mary. It sounds like the sensor assembly is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. It should read around 1100 ohms at room temp. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Arlan F November 08, 2013 for Model Number JB645DTBB Bulb broke off in oven, forgot to unplug while trying to get bulb out and it caused the oven to not work. What do I need to replace and can I do it myself?
1 Answer Arlan, If the control board is not working after the trying to get the bulb out then it sounds like the control board may need to be replaced. The oven light is in line of the control board. Aside from checking the breakers the other cause would be a failed control board. Read More...
Paul October 25, 2013 for Model Number PT925sn1ss The oven turns on, both top and bottom heats for approx. 1 minute and then shuts down. I know the #7 touch pad does not work, I have gotten that error code. Do I need to replace the whole key pad to get this thing to work? Paul
1 Answer Paul, Yes, if you are getting an error code that is causing the unit to shut down due to a keypad issue then you would need to replace the door assembly WB56X25774 which has the keypad on it. Read More...
Steven September 10, 2013 for Model Number JBS55DM2WW The burners and the internal heating elements have stopped working. All indicators on the control panel (clock/cooking controls/surface temperature indicators, etc.) are active. What might cause this scenario?
1 Answer Steven, Starting at one either the bake or broil element or one of the switches, you will want to check for 120 vac on the L2 side back to the terminal block. You can also check at the terminal block to make sure that there is 240 vac across the 2 outer terminals and then check from each outer to the center for 120 vac. You are loosing one leg of power coming into the unit. The leg you are loosing is the L2 side which you will need to determine where you are loosing this side at. Read More...
Gary S May 23, 2013 for Model Number GE JBP67BD1WH My bake element works fine. The broiler element does not heat at all. I have replaced with a new element and still not working. Light on control board lights up. The sensor wires in back are very dark. Could a bad sensor cause the broiler element not to work?
1 Answer Hello Gary. No, based on the information you provided, the control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Sally May 11, 2013 for Model Number JBS55WK2WW Last fall I replaced the heating element in my oven and it has been working great since then. The other day I preheated the oven to bake a roast. When I put the roast in to bake with a meat thermometer, the thermometer almost immediately went off as done. I played with it a couple of times and then realized my oven was blazing hot, way hotter than the 350 degrees I wanted. Is there something else broken that I can replace or is it time to buy a new oven?
1 Answer Sally, You will want to check the oven sensor to make sure that it is good. The resistance check should be approximately 1090 ohms of resistance on the sensor at room temp. If not then replace the sensor. If it checks ok then you will want to check to see if the broil element shuts off. If not then it sounds like the relay for broil element is stuck and control needs to be replaced. Read More...
George February 17, 2013 for Model Number jkp28bf4bb This is a ge double oven. Bottom is fine, top has electronic controls. Comes to heat fine when first turned on, but does not call for heat after that unless you turn off/on I suspect oven sensor? do you?
1 Answer Hello George, You will want to test the sensor for resistance. The sensor should have approximately 1090 ohms at room temp. If sensor checks ok then oven control would be at fault. Read More...
