Questions & Answers

For Ge Oven Temperature Sensor Assembly (Part Number: OEM17861322)

1 Answer

TheQuirkyCreative, the oven sensor WB21X22134 would need to be tested for resistance. At room temperature, it should measure about 1100 Ohms and increase 2 Ohms for every 1°F that it is warmed up. If the sensor measures properly, the oven control WB27X45466 would be the cause of failure if there is not a grounded wire or element. The wires and element can be tested for continuity when the range power supply is turned off to the frame to see if either have grounded out.

Shelia, That fault is for a cooling fan error. Either not running or the control not sensing it. WB26X29468 If the fan is getting 120VAC and not running then it would need to be replaced. If no voltage is being supplied to the fan when the oven is at operating temperature then the control would need to be replaced.

Karen, The oven sensor will be located in the upper left corner of the oven cavity. If the oven will not heat at all it would be recommended to test to see if there is 240 Vac getting to the elements. If there is not then the issue will be with the control board and if there is then it will most likely be the element that is faulty. The sensor could be the issue if there is an over temperature in the oven or a lower than normal temperature but typically will not cause a no heat issue.

JC, the error F2 is indicating that the main control is sensing excessive heat. With the power supply cord unplugged from the outlet, it is recommended that the broil element WB44T10094 is tested for continuity to the oven chassis when accessed from the back of the unit. If there is continuity, the element would need to be replaced. If there is not continuity, the main control WB27X45466 has a stuck relay and the control would need to be replaced.

Bob for Model Number J2B918WEK3WW

Upper oven works fine, with a new control board just replaced due to damage from whole house power surge. But, lower oven will not maintain temperature. Knob works, panel light works, but if set for say, 250 deg., it does not stop there when heating--I turned it off at 350 (verified with handheld IR temp sensor). I have not ascertained how high it might go if left unattended. Trying to figure out how to repair, and more specifically what part(s) would be needed? Don't see a lower oven temp sensor in parts diagrams, which I would have suspected as bad.

Bob, with the power supply cord unplugged, it would be recommended that the wires and elements are tested for continuity to ground. If one does show as having continuity to ground, then that part would need to be replaced. If there is not continuity, the oven thermostat WB20K10017 has failed and would need to be replaced.

Albany Landlord for Model Number PHB925SP5SS

Our range has never maintained the correct oven temp. It reaches the set temperature but then falls well below it (~50 degrees). And It "knows" the current temp but wont turn back on. For example if the temp is set to 350 and after a while you change it to 355 the display will show the current temp while it is working to reach the set temp and it will be at 300 or so. It is always well below the set temp. Same on Convection and regular. I replaced the temp sensor years ago and maybe it helped? Not sure. Is it the control board? I couldn't find that part. Thanks as always.

Roberto, might it be that the display has been diabled ? "Clock Display (Cloc diSP) This feature specifies whether the clock appears in the display. It may be On or Off." You may want to check and or reset the oven control / display features. Then check for loose or damaged connections and wiring to the control panel.

Henry, the oven sensor WB21X22134 would need to be tested for resistance and should measure around 1100O at room temperature. The cooling fan will also need to be checked to ensure that it is turning on and allowing airflow to occur. If these things check good, then the likely failure is going to be in the control WB27T11162.
