The 8" Surface Element is an OEM part for GE ranges. part provides a reliable and consistent heat source for cooking. It is typically used for larger pots and pans, ensuring even heat distribution. Note: Comes with ceramic block, terminals and screws. 3 wire,  2125W, hi-rise, no ring Update: Revised part has a 6 point support bracket - vs - 3 point bracket.

Causes of a bad surface element can include wear and tear from regular use, accidental damage from heavy pots, or electrical faults such as short circuits or power surges.

Symptoms of a bad surface element include:

  • The element not heating up or heating unevenly
  • Sparks or electrical arcing when the element is turned on
  • Visible damage, such as burns or breaks in the coil
  • The element not fitting securely into the stovetop connection

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Larry, for safety reasons you would need to re-wire the unit to properly convert it over to a standard 8" coil element. This includes replacing the switch, wires and receptacle. Due to liability reasons we are unable to provide you with any instructions to covert the unit, thanks!

Fred, The part number for the 8" coil element on this unit is 5300123749 which unfortunately has been discontinued by the manufacturer with no suitable replacement available.

Veronica, Make sure that there is not a screw holding this one in place but if that is not the case then you just pull it straight out. It could be stuck and may just need to pull a little harder.
