Randy August 28, 2019 for Model Number DLB2450BRL (Hotpoint) While I was replacing the belt on mom's Hotpoint electric dryer DLB2450BRL, the 2 ( one white & the other yellow with black stripes) wires came loose from the dryer door switch WE4x197. Unfortunately, I didn't notice where they were connected. From a previous question that was answered, it sounds like the white wire is common and the yellow with black stripes goes to the motor. However, I still don't know how to determine where the wires connect to the switch. I haven't attempted to reconnect the wires because I was concerned that if connected them incorrectly meaning the white wire where the yellow wire goes, that I might damage something on the dryer. Thanks for any help you can provide. Randy
1 Answer Hello Randy, this is a 2 terminal switch, it does not matter which switch terminal the wires are attached to. Read More...
Meagan July 11, 2015 for Model Number DDE 7500GBLWH No matches for model number. GE 5 cycle, I don't know the year. Casey November 15, 2013 for Model Number dde6500gbl How can I test the door switch before replacing it?
1 Answer Hello Casey. With the door closed, it should read closed for continuity. Open, it should read open. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Flint October 13, 2013 for Model Number RCA/GE DRB4600SBLWW Hi, I need to reconnect my door switch which came unconnected while I was servicing another part, and therefore I hadn't made a note of the wiring positions. There are three wires for the switch on my unit: a yellow with black stripe, a white and a red (which goes to the light bulb). I know which terminal on the switch is a "common", i.e.which terminal connects to the two other terminals depending on the switch position, but could someone tell me if I should connect the black/yellow wire or the white wire to this common terminal?
1 Answer Flint, On your unit the white wire will be common coming from the timer. The red will be NO going to the light and the NC will be the yellow/black to the motor. Read More...

Suzette April 19, 2013 for Model Number DLL2450BPLAD Hi - I called in and they said the model number Hotpoint dryer I have does not match their records, however they did say that they feel the part number I do need for a door switch is - WE4X197. My old part has 2 prongs, the one they say is a match has 3, will this work? If so, is there any issue or harm in leaving one prong unconnected? Thank you, Suzette
