The Door Interlock Switch is an OEM part for GE microwaves. It ensures the safety of the microwave by preventing the appliance from operating while the door is open. This switch is part of a microwave's safety mechanism, which includes multiple interlock systems designed to stop the generation of microwaves immediately once the door is opened, thereby protecting users from exposure to microwave radiation.

Signs that it's time to replace your door interlock switch include the microwave not starting or stopping unexpectedly, the microwave continuing to operate with the door open, or a failure to heat food even though the appliance seems to be running.

Symptoms of a bad Door Interlock Switch include:

  • Microwave does not start
  • Microwave stops unexpectedly
  • The microwave operates with the door open
  • Microwave turns on but does not heat food

This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

For Ge Door Interlock Switch (Part Number: OEM7867365)

Chris for Model Number PSB1001NSS01

Good afternoon. I have a GE Profile Advantium 120 Microwave model # PSB1001NSS01. Yesterday when I opened the door the turntable started spinning. When I close the door the turntable stops spinning. The oven functions normally and the turntable spins during cooking and then stops when it is finished. When you open the door to remove your item, however, then the turntable starts spinning until you close the door. I have also noticed sometimes when you open the door, random cook functions will appear on the panel as if you had opened the door and selected an option. When you close the door they clear and it goes back to normal. Are my switches failing? Everything goes back to normal once you open and close the door a couple of times. Thank you so much for any assistance.

Chris, based on the information provided, the primary interlock switch WB24X10047 (switch will have a black wire and a red wire going to it) is stuck in the closed position and would need to be changed out.

Andy for Model Number PEB1590SM2SS

Hello APP folks, My microwave fan, light and turntable come on whenever I open the microwave door. And yesterday it wouldn't start the cooking process when I entered the cook time and pushed start. The light was on inside, and it was counting down as if it was cooking, but the turntable wasn't moving and the fan never came on. I shut the power down to it at the breaker box overnight, and this morning when I powered it back up, it was working normally. I've read several other question and answers on here and it seems like it could be a door switch. How many door switches are in this unit? And is there anything else that might be causing this issue? By the way, the microwave is a GE Profile PEB1590SM2SS and is nine years old.

Andy, based on the information provided, it sounds like there is a failure in the main control WB27X25300 as well as a failing primary microswitch WB24X10047 which would be located on the top of the door latch assembly. The microswitch should have continuity when the door is closed and should not have continuity when the door is open.

Justin for Model Number JNM1541SM5SS

I have a G.E. microwave that is giving me trouble. The model number is JNM1541SM5SS.You put in the time it wants to cook and press start and it comes on and counts down but turntable inside does not spin and the microwave does not heat.I wrote your a few weeks back on the problem of microwave i am having and your mentioned the main board or smart board as it is called. So i ordered one and replaced it and microwave still does the same thing. So then i went down list of different parts i could change that might be causing the issue. Here is a list........ I replaced the Magnetron Replaced the turntable motor Replaced fuse on I believe they called it the filter board Replaced Capacitor and diode Replaced Door switch Replaced Replaced the two limits or tstat sensors that sit together at bottom of microwave Lastly replaced the limit or tstat that sits by itself to left of magnetron. One way or another researching through your site it said some of these parts could be problem so I replaced them and a few other parts i just went ahead and tryed replacing .After all of that work the microwave is still not working and doing the same as before i replaced all those parts.I am writing to your once again in hopes that your might have another idea of what could be my microwaves problem. There are not many more parts left on it i could replace, but i replaced so much already.I hope your can help. Thanks again for your time.

Hello Justin, if the top door interlock switch (secondary) is not working or faulty, on start there would be no power to the tt motor or the hv transformer for heating.

Al, The door switches are located behind the control panel and there are three switches and I would recommend replacing all three switches at the same time.

Arist, You will want to check to see if the door switches have continuity. It would most likely be a door switch that is causing this issue and would be recommended to replace all 3 when one is bad. To replace all the door switches you would need 2 of WB24X10047 one for the upper and one for the lower and then you would need for the middle WB24X25397.

Don, based on the information provided, it sounds like the primary door microswitch WB24X10047 has failed (located at the top of the door switch bracket). With the microwave unplugged, this switch can be tested for continuity when the door is opened. If it has continuity, it has failed and would need to be replaced.

Hello Peter, This is most commonly caused by an open cavity thermostat WB24X10163. This is located about midway over the cooking compartment behind the air grill.

Peter, There is a heater around the fan that would come on for the heat. The fan is there to circulate the air and if it is not circulating it will cause the unit to not heat properly. The element will be the most likely issue for the no heat.

Hello Joe, you will need a multimeter for this testing. Unplug the mw from power and remove the outer case screws, remove the outer wrap, remove the control board assembly to access the door interlock switches, pull off the wires to the switch noting the wire positions, use the continuity meter setting and test the switch terminals with the switch not actuated it should read open and with switch plunger pressed it should read closed.
