Max October 21, 2012 for Model Number JE2160BF01 If I open the door on the microwave it blows the main fuse in the microwave and trips the microwave breaker in the house electric panel. I replaced the main fuse and power came back on the microwave and then I opened the microwave door and it tripped the fuses again. Is this a short in the door switch and if so what is the part # of the switch and how hard is it to replace. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Max, One of the door switches are stuck in the electrically closed position. The test meter will show you which one is bad, but GE recommends to replace the switches at the same time since an over current situation will electrically stress all of the switches. The procedure is quite simple. Remove the air grille by r4emoving the two screws along the top edge of the unit. The air grille will now shift to the left to come off, (this is easier with the door opened). Now remove the single screw at the top of the control panel that was concealed by the air grille. The door switches are now exposed on the left side of the opening where the control panel was. NOTE: Do not remove any wires without taking a few pictures of them from various angles with your cell phone. Otherwise, the next question you post will be a wiring issue. The door switches are part number WB24X823 for two of them and one WB24X10103. Read More...
