Carolyn March 27, 2024 for Model Number GTD42EASJ2WW I have a question about part WE4X24550 AP6031056 There is question on the website from "Paul" that relates to my issue. The answer references a 'resistor' part near the timer, but I don't see that on the parts diagram. Can you please provide more information and the part number?
1 Answer Carolyn, The resistor is not in the run circuit on your model and would have nothing to do with the dryer not shutting off. Try a timed dry setting. If it stops at the end of the cycle it is probably the extra care switch not feeding the timer motor voltage to advance. Read More...
Chris March 20, 2024 for Model Number GTD42GASJ2WW My GE GTD42GASJ2WW dryer on the "Casuals" auto dry setting - the timer does not advance and the dryer will not stop, even overnight when the clothes are hot and dry. On the timed setting, the timer advances and the dryer shuts off like normal. Getting conflicting answers as to the problem being the venting, cycling thermostat, electronic control board, or the timer. How can I determine which? I will check the venting and probably wouldn't want to hassle with replacing the cycling thermostat myself since it looks from the video like too much I'd want to do. Thanks.
1 Answer Chris, With this issue, try cleaning the sensor bars with rubbing alcohol. If this does not correct the issue, then check to ensure that the venting is not clogged between the blower housing and the outside of your home. Read More...

Lynn January 09, 2024 for Model Number GTD42EASJ2WW The replacement timer part I received on the back where letter C is only has 2 terminals and I need 3. Looking on several sites I can not locate the correct replacement part. Looking at most f the photos they all have 2 terminals at letter C. Any suggestions or do you know of the right part number I should get???
1 Answer Lynn, If you pull the brown wire off, there will only be one terminal under it. This is a piggy back connection in which there will be 2 wires hooked to 1 terminal. Read More...
Paul June 15, 2023 for Model Number GTD42EASJ2WW Have a GE dryer, modal GTD42EASJ2WW and it won't shut off when it gets to the end of a cycle. The timer dose run but as I said it won't shut off just keeps running. Thinking it was just a bad timer I replace it but the new one dose the same thing. Can't seem to understand what could cause this.
1 Answer Paul, There should be a resistor that is near the timer that you would want to change as this would be the most likely cause for this issue. Read More...
Wb June 09, 2023 for Model Number GTD42EASJ0WW Went to swap the new part in, but the new part is completely missing terminal H, which is the pink wire from the top of the “Extended Tumble” selector. Did I get a mixed part, or was there a change in the wiring protocol?
