The Drain Pump is an OEM replacement part for LG dishwashers. It is a component responsible for removing water from the dishwasher tub during the drain cycles.

Symptoms of a bad dishwasher drain pump:

  • Water not draining properly, leaving standing water in the tub
  • Leaks or water pooling around the dishwasher base
  • Loud or unusual noises coming from the drain pump during operation
  • Error codes or warning lights related to drainage issues

Causes of a faulty drain pump can include clogging or obstructions in the pump or hose, mechanical wear and tear over time, or electrical malfunctions preventing the pump from operating correctly.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore dishwasher models.

For Lg Drain Pump (Part Number: OEM17921367)

Glenn for Model Number LDF7774WW

My mom says the dishwasher stops in the middle of the drain cycle. When I checked the pump manually it runs then stops then runs and you can hear it drain. Is this normal? All the video's I see show the pump working all the time not on and off like my mom's dishwasher is doing. It needs a drain pump because it makes a funny whining noise when running. So I'm going to order it but I know the on and off is controlled by a circuit board, not the motor. Am I correct in this too. Thanks for your help.

Glenn, Thanks for the question!!! It is can be normal for the pump to alternate between run and stop depending on the model (common on Bosch dishwasher). I can't find any data on your model to support if this is the case or not. If the motor is to run constantly it may be a built-in thermal protector on the drain motor that causes the run and stop the issue. You can measure the electric resistance of the Drain Motor it should be 20-40 ohm. Since the pump is whining(typically an indicator the seal failed) and you are replacing it, I would install the new pump and see what your results are before worrying about any additional issues as they may not exist at that time.

Johnny, It would be recommended to test to make sure that there is 120 Vac getting to the drain pump when it is supposed to drain but it does sound like the issue will be a faulty drain pump.

Claudia, unfortunately, this could be either the drain pump assembly EAU62043403 or the circulation pump case assembly ABT72909202. The cause could potentially be an item stuck between the impeller of either, or even a stripped impeller. To ensure the correct one is repaired, it is recommended the drain pump and impeller be inspected as this will isolate the possibility to one or the other.
