For Lg Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM14553168)

Desert Guy for Model Number LSC27914CW

The Ice Maker has failed. Symptoms are: The ice tray seems to be out of synch in that it starts to tilt, yet the drive motor continues to run and I hear a noise that sounds like a "clicking sound" as though gears are not meshing. The other observation is I don't have any water coming in to fill the tray. I have good water pressure and water is streaming very nicely when filling a container from the door spicket. The power switch is turned on. My other question is how do I remove the old ice maker assembly? The right side seems to come loose from it's mounting, however, the left side is not coming loose from it's mounting. How do I get the left side to release so I can remove it from the refrigerator? Thanks. Desert Guy

Desert guy, To remove the icemaker there will be a screw in it that holds it in place. This screw will need to be remove to pull the unit out. As for what would cause the issue. It is most likely caused by a faulty icemaker in which the motor has become to weak to turn the tray.

Mike, You can test to see if motor operates on the icemaker. There is a rest button on the bottom of the icemaker. When you push button if the icemaker does not run then the motor is bad and icemaker would need to be replaced.

Hello Lawrence, To remove icemaker you would pull ice bin out. Once out there is a phillips head screw that you would remove and once removed pull icemaker out. Disconnect the harness, plug new icemaker into harness and slide icemaker back in and put screw in. Reinstall the ice bin.
