John August 14, 2015 LG icemaker does not make ice but makes noise when turned on.. If I fill the cubes manually, the water freezes if icemaker is off but melts if I turn it on. Based on this I feel timer is "stuck" on the heat before eject part of cycle. Will putting in a new aeq36756901 fix this (bad timer motor in icemaker?) or is the timer located elsewhere (on a circuit board?) I already tried removing the icemaker and it is just two Phillips screws and a wiring connector so very easy to change out IF this is the bad part.
1 Answer John, Based on the information the issue would be caused by a faulty icemaker and you would need to replace AEQ36756901. Read More...
Paul A August 08, 2015 for Model Number LFX25960ST The appears to be no power going to the ice maker (green light on the ice maker is not on). The unit will not dispense water or ice and the ice maker has now stopped working. It seems as if a switch of some kind is shutting off power to the door dispenser and the ice maker.
1 Answer Paul, You will want to check the wiring harness at the top of the door hinge to make sure that there are no loose or damaged wires. This will be the most likely cause other than the main control board having failed. Read More...
David A. August 02, 2015 for Model Number LFX25960ST My ice maker arm keeps freezing up. If I let it thaw for several days to weeks it works well for a period of time. Sometimes it works a day, this last time was nearly a month. Then it gets, I presume, ice in the junction where the arm feeds into the machine. I'm wondering if it's missing a washer or somthing to keep out the humidity from that arm. Thank you
1 Answer Hello David, This is normally caused by either a bad water valve AJU72992601, low water pressure, or in fewer cases, the icemakers', AEQ36756901, internal switches. On an LG with the electronic control triggering the icemaker, it could even trace back to a failed board EBR34917104. Start by verifying the water pressure by unplugging the refrigerator and turning off the water supply, removing the water line from the refrigerator and turning it on into a bucket. If it sprays hard, it is good and the water valve is the prime suspect. Be sure to thaw the fill tube to the icemaker out with a hair dryer if any ice build-up is detected inside it. Read More...
Rick B July 12, 2015 for Model Number LFX25980ST I have replaced water valve twice in past 3 weeks, they last about 3 hours before burning up. It seems they get a continues supply of electric circuit all the time even if water or ice maker is not on causing the valve to burn up. Is there a sticking relay somewhere that needs to be replaced
1 Answer Hello Rick. If the valve is staying on, there should be water over flowing somewhere. If not, you will need to replace the main board on the unit. Read More...
Cb May 20, 2015 for Model Number LGR7646EQ3 Replaced the ice maker yesterday. It cycled and made ice but the fill try continued to run and water poured down thru the dispenser. I turned the unit off. Does the new unit need to be replaced
1 Answer Hello CB. Check and see if the icemaker got stuck or if the water valve is bad and did not turn the water off. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. Read More...
Joyce S May 08, 2015 for Model Number LFX25960SB Replaced ice maker 3 hrs ago, no water fill or any kind of action. Joyce
1 Answer Joyce, There is a button on the side of the icemaker below where the lights are for ice cube size. You will want to push and hold this button until the icemaker starts to cycle. Let the icemaker run through a cycle and see if it fills with water. If it does not then you will want to check to see if the water valve is getting power to it. This water valve is the one that is located in the door of the unit behind the shelf at the bottom of the left door. If there is power getting to the water valve when the icemaker calls for water then you will need to replace the water valve. The other thing that would be causing this issue would be a faulty control board. If the unit does get water when you push the test button then you will need to check to make sure that the ice fan is blowing air into the compartment by pushing the light switch and feel the holes on the left wall of the refrigerator compartment to see if there is air blowing. Also check the temperature of the freezer which could cause the icemaker to not cycle. If the freezer temp is not around 0 degrees plus or minus 5 degrees then it can cause the icemaker to not cycle. Mary M. May 07, 2015 for Model Number LFX25960ST I thawed the ice maker and the arm functioned. I got one batch of ice. the tray has filled the the ice is frozen but the ice is not dropping. Should the arm be up or down to signal the heater to drop the ice? The arm is currently up.
1 Answer Mary, The arm on this icemaker will move to the up position as the unit is starting the cycle. It sounds like, based on the description of the problem that either the arm is damaged internally or the heater on the ice maker is not working. You would want to replace the icemaker for this issue. Jill April 26, 2015 for Model Number LG LFX25975ST/01 Our ice maker is making ice, but not dispensing. The sweep arm was sticky so we thawed it out but has no effect on the emptying. Is there a heater element in these ice makers that can be broken?
1 Answer Jill, Yes with this icemaker the is a heating element that should heat the mold to allow the ice to eject. It sounds as if though the icemaker is defective and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Gene March 30, 2015 for Model Number LG LSC27950ST I replaced my LG icemaker with a new OEM ice maker #AEQ36756901 and all that happens is I can adjust the ind. size of the cubes. No water fills and nothing else rotates. I replaced the old one due to not producing ice and the fill tube would freeze and the tray was flaky. I can dispense water fine. Is there a test I can perform?
1 Answer Hello Gene. If the fill tube is freezing up, you will need to order and replace the water valve on the unit. Read More...
