Causes of a bad ice maker assembly can include mineral build-up from hard water, wear and tear of moving parts, or electrical component failures. These issues can impair the ice maker's functionality, leading to inconsistent or no ice production.

Symptoms of a bad ice maker assembly include:

  • The ice maker not producing ice
  • Leaking water around the ice maker
  • Ice cubes that are misshapen or smaller than usual
  • Unusual noises coming from the ice maker

Keith, if the model number of your appliance could be provided in a new question, this will allow the most accurate information to be presented. Generally speaking, if the water is leaking from the water dispenser after dispensing water, the filter could possibly be restricting flow and cause the valve to not shut properly. The tubing may also need to be inspected for any indications of a pinhole that could be allowing air to break the vacuum in the tubing.

Hello Bad B, The only way to remove the odor would be to lay a sheet of newspaper out on the shelves and use charcoal without starting fluid in it to absorb the odor. After 24 hours, remove the charcoal and replace it with new. Do this repeatedly until the odor is gone. You can also try wiping the interior down with white vinegar afterward. As a note, the charcoal can still be used to cook with since the odor absorbed will be burned off by the time the charcoal goes white and is ready for cooking.

Laurent, it would be recommended that the ice maker fill tube is inspected for any ice blockage that could have potentially formed. If it is blocked, the tube would need to be cleared. As the valve has already been replaced, there would not be a need to replace it again.

Kent, it would be recommended that the freezer temperature is verified using a thermometer. If the freezer temperature is not reaching 0°F, it can cause the ice maker to not reach less than 1°F and prevent it from harvesting ice. If the temperature is good and reaching the ice maker properly, the failure would most likely be the ice maker AEQ73130004 itself.

Pari, with access to the auger motor EAU60784231, the white wire and the blue wire would need to be tested for 120VAC when the door switch is taped closed and the ice dispenser is pressed using the cubed selection. If there is 120VAC and the auger does not rotate, it has failed and would need to be replaced. If there is not voltage, the failure would be in the sub PCB board EBR64730408.
