The Ice Maker Assembly Kit is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It is responsible for producing and storing ice within the freezer compartment. The kit includes all necessary components to create ice, ensuring a steady supply for household needs.

Over time, the ice maker can become faulty due to various reasons. Causes of a bad ice maker assembly can include mineral build-up from hard water, wear and tear of moving parts, or electrical component failures. These issues can impair the ice maker's functionality, leading to inconsistent or no ice production.

Symptoms of a bad ice maker assembly include:

  • The ice maker not producing ice
  • Leaking water around the ice maker
  • Ice cubes that are misshapen or smaller than usual
  • Unusual noises coming from the ice maker

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore.

Greg, Based on the information provided I would check to make sure the temperature is below 8°F in the area of the ice maker. If it is then you would need the ice maker if not then it could be a cooling issue.

Bob for Model Number 79573157610

31/2 yr old Kenmore elite. after one year began to have leakage which of course became ice-- making it very hard to get cube container out of compartment. Although it still made plenty of ice I would clear it and it would continue making ice and actually until now, never stopped making ice cubes. Recently we began seeing leaked water at dispenser and inside fridge in front of bottom fridge shelf. I opened it up and there was no ice at all. The water dispenser continues to work. I used a paper clip to run test [this one has no on off switch, just a little hole] and it squirted water into the mold and the " teeth looking things" did a turn but I expected the mold to turn over and dump water but it did not [is it supposed to on this one]? The ice maker no. is aeq73130004.

Bob, The icemaker fingers should rotate and then after a complete rotation should fill the unit with water.

William for Model Number LFXS29626

My Q is similar to the one posted below (blocks of ice forming in the indoor ice maker). I think the ice maker is overfilling? Seems the problem started after I replaced the water filter. Could that make it overfill? I guess the valve could be leaky but the problem stops when I turn off the ice maker. Water is leaking into the ice bin (AP5976579)assembly and creating a block of ice in the basket of ice. I can’t determine where the water is leaking from? Thoughts on what needs replacing? Tom for Model Number LG LFXS30766D /00 Answer Tom, the ice maker fill tube will need to be inspected for any water coming through and overfilling the ice maker. This would indicate that the water valve AJU74532703 is leaking by. If there are no signs of it leaking by, then the dispenser chute and the ice bin will need to be inspected for air leaks as this can cause a similar issue.

William, It is very possible that the water valve does not fully shut off and water seeps through and causes the leaking issue. It is also possible that the icemaker mold is leaking and would cause this issue as well or the icemaker is calling for too much water. In this case the icemaker would need to be replaced.
