S.E, While replacing the light socket and housing will help you would also need to replace the main control board for this issue as it is the cause for the lights staying on anyway.

Bill, This will be the correct part and the round disc will just need to be screwed to the metal housing and then also would need to attach the ground to that.

Trevor, In most cases this issue will not be a bad light assembly. You will want to pull the assembly down and see if there is 120 vac getting to it. In most cases the issue with this will be caused by a faulty control board. If there is power to the light assembly and not coming on then the light assembly will be the issue. If there is no power the control board will need replaced.

Ralph, You will want to locate a spot on the metal plate to attach the ground wire to. Normally there is a little tab that it would attach to. As for the light switch, it would not be faulty for your issue and the main control would be the issue.

Terry, Unfortunately this issue will come down to a faulty main control board. It sounds like the relay for the lights on the board have failed an will require replacement board 6871JB1423N.
