For Lg Refrigerator Light Socket Assembly (Part Number: OEM16787811)

Cory, You will want to check to see if there is 120 vac getting to the light socket. If there is not then this will be a control board issue. To access this, remove the lens cover. Once removed you will remove the 2 screws holding the housing in place and then pull the light housing down to access the sockets to test them.

Steven, based on the information provided, the main control 6871JB1423G would be the most likely cause of failure. Unfortunately, this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.

Steve, I would recommend checking the power at the light socket with a multimeter for power. If you have power and the bulb does not light up and the bulb is good then you have an issue with the socket. If you don't have power at the socket the issue could be wiring.

Jon, Yes, you would be able to replace the control board which will be the issue with the unit. This control board will be located on the back of the refrigerator and will have a cover over it. Make sure that the unit is unplugged before replacing the control board.

Matthew for Model Number 795.77553600

My twin bulbs were occasionally staying on when I opened the doors, all the way to the point where they only flickered for split second when opened. Naturally, I replaced the bulbs, twice, no avail. Still flickered. After some research, I purchased and installed new door switches (AP4650821). Still flickered. I just saw that this part (lamp socket EAG62831801)) could be the next step to replace, but I wanted to check with the experts first. With the lights flickering, what do you think would be the next step? Do you think it is Light bulb wattage issue? I'm currently trying to use a 60 Watt equivalent LED appliance bulb. Current bulb in use: YUKIHALU, LED Refrigerator Light Bulb 60W Equivalent A15 Appliance Fridge Bulbs, Waterproof 600 Lumen 7W 120V Daylight 5000K E26 Medium Base, Small Size Bulb for Damp Location, Not-Dim, 2-Pack Thanks! I have a Kenmore 795.77553600.

Matthew, it would be recommended that the wire connection to the light bulb socket assembly EAG62831801 is accessed and tested for 120 Volts AC from the blue wire to the pink wire with a meter. If there is a continuous voltage supply, the failure would likely be in the socket assembly. If the voltage is not constant, the failure would likely be in the main control 6871JB1423N. In regards to the bulb used, it would be suggested that the manufacturer recommended bulb 6912JB2004M is used as this will ensure the correct current draw is being applied through the main control.

Hello Dan, The manufacturer has a service bulletin on this model and the lights have been changed to the 40W version 6912JB2004M. The light sockets have also been replaced with EAG62831801 which has a thermostat to turn the lights off when a predetermined temperature has been reached. All damaged parts from the heat of the original lighting configuration should be replaced and both light switches 6600JB1010A and 6600JB3007L should be replaced to prevent any chance of recurrence.

John, with the door open you will want to test connection 3 pin 5 of the main control for 120VAC, if there is 120VAC at that pin, then you will want to test the pink wire going to the bulb sockets for 120VAC (if the control is sending 120VAC). If the pink wire does not have 120VAC, then there is a break in the wire. If there is 120VAC going to the bulb sockets from the pink wire, then there is a chance that there may be an issue with the neutral side.

Joe, Check to make sure that there are good light bulbs in the unit and if they are then pull the light assembly down by removing the 2 screws under the light shield and see if there is a thermostat in line of the light sockets. If so and the lights are not coming on then this would most likely be a bad thermostat which would need the light socket for or the control board is faulty and needing replaced.
