Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Water Filter Housing Assembly (Part Number: OEM13024305)

1 Answer

Robert, while it is possible that a frozen water line can cause pressure to bleed and "leak", it would be recommended that the water filter housing section be inspected for any cracked/broken tubing or valve housing.

Robbie, Thanks for the question!!!! It will be a 1/4" compression fitting. Sorry, but we do not carry the brass ones which are best for this application.

I have a samsung refrigerator that stopped accepting new screw on filters. Samsung or aftermarket filters for this model will not turn when trying to replace filter. I have read that Samsung changed the filter design after mfg?? Will the DA9706317A replacement filter holder allow me to install a filter and have filtered water again? 2. What is the part number for the compression fitting for the plastic water line that has to be cut to remove the old one? Great Video. Thank you!

1 Answer

Herman, The part number that would be needed for the filter head is DA97-06317A and for the compression fitting, remove the clip and then push in on the round ring round the tube and pull to remove.

Moutaz, Thanks for the question!!! That could be the issue or it could be a control board failure. Check for voltage at the valve when the water is being called for.

Joe, It is not common for there to get pin holes on the water filter housing but it can happen and it would just need to be replaced.

John for Model Number RFG238AARS/XAA

This refrigerator model uses filter head assembly DA97-06317A. The most recent filter (aftermarket I've bought before) does not fill with water and rotates only 1/8 turn on installation. A new Samsung filter for this unit will not turn at all. With or without a filter installed, the fresh water and ice dispensers work. Before I replace the filter assembly (I'd prefer not to buy and return if it doesn't solve my problem, naturally), do you assess that the problem is with the filter head assembly? I can see no obvious flaws when a turn it enough to look into the assembly's vertical axis. Thanks.

1 Answer

Hello John based on your description and the symptom, yes, the problem is within the filter head assembly, the fix will be to replace DA97-06317A.

David for Model Number Samsung RFG297AARS/XAA refrigerator

My refrigerator was manufactured in 12/2009 - I have used the bypass insert since the day we purchased it as we have pre-filtered water already. No leaks until today. I could swear the leak is above the housing on the top interior wall of the refrigerator, but I can tell it is leaking around the housing as well, (difficult to pinpoint). I am going to buy the new water filter housing and assembly and hope that solves this leak. For now, the water is turned off to the refrigerator and the leak has stopped. Is there any way or anything that really could be leaking from the upper wall above the housing or is that just condensation fooling me a bit? I just don't believe there is any water tubing above that which would cause a leak or appear to be a leak. I'm not even sure why the housing would leak now after all this time unless sediment/particles are in the line and causing a plug now. Thanks

1 Answer

Hello David, Your issue sounds like it will be the filter housing. You should check the temperature in the fresh food compartment since most of the time a leak is caused by the assembly getting too cold and cracking. It is not going to be caused by sedimentations or mineral deposits in this part of the system. The water valve is normally the only part affected by these factors.

Bigboy, if the tubing needing to be replaced is the tubing inside of the freezer door, it is not replaceable and the entire door DA91-02735B would be needed to correct the tubing. The tubing that the freezer door connects to will go directly to the tank assembly DA81-05902A (incoming and outgoing tubing of the tank only listed as part of tank assembly per manufacturer) behind the refrigerator evaporator cover. From there, the incoming tubing from the tank will connect into the water valve.
